Default 7 Days From Right Now

It will all be moments away. Is your Pick 3, 4 or 6 alive? Its time, it's Derby Time and I now, finally, have the bug. It hit me a few minutes ago when I looked at the clock and realized how close it is.

The countdown begins to one of the best days in sports, especially for folks like us. Best of luck to each and every one of you. Now, the question that begs to be asked............................................. .........................

Where are you watching and wagering on the days racing?

I will have all my bets in by 11am and home on the couch just chillin watching it on tv.

I have to work that day ("Migration Sensation" weekend at the zoo...) and have a short play to perform that night, so i'll be running to Playwrights' Restaurant (how apt since I co-wrote the play I'm performing) after I get out of work at 4 to use the OTB there, eat dinner, and not hear a word of the race call because of all the screaming drunks. And hopefully not getting too drunk myself since I'll only have about two hours to sober up for the play!

And then watch the TV coverage on DVR when I get home that night.

I have a horse show so I will be watching it later that night! Hubby is going to make our bets. I told him he doesn't have to come to the show as long as he go and places our bets.

I'll be at Trackside Arlington Park, early. By this time next week, I will be quite liquored up and crying.

Man you are really excited about that $100,000 Russell L. Reineman Illinois Owners Stakes next Saturday at Arlington. It should be a good race, but I wouldn't say I "have the bug."
Oh wait.....is there another race that day somewhere else?

I took the day off of work and I'll be heading to the OTB to place my bets early that afternoon and then I'll just sit on the couch and get to drinking.

I could get interested in that race. If Fort Prado, Kid Grindstone, Lewis Michael, Purim, Summer Book and Toasted all race, it could be a fun race to put a small amount of money on.

I took 2 days off (I know...a shock unto its own)...Friday I am moving...and Saturday my butt will be parked at the OTB from the moment they open the doors until they kick me out at closing time.

As my boy Scavs would call it...an "all day swivel session"

First 6 AM workouts, then breakfast at the backstretch restaurant, then off to the 2nd floor clubhouse owners boxes to handicap Belmont and Churchill cards...lots of cigars, highlighters and pens for the day. The only thing missing is CAROLINA BBQ. (Belmont food stinks) but its always a great day

If any fillies come calling race day...we move to the paddock and bring a cooler and food to a sunny picnic table

So fired up.

Meet with the boys to go over the card one last time at Starbucks early Saturday AM.

Head over to the Mohegan Sun Ballroom. Jim Mazur and Richard Eng going to be the guest handicappers. Have spent three of the last four Derbies there (the other at Churchill).

Spend the day there and clean up!

Watching it on TVG...oh wait, nevermind.

I am really not sure how I am going to play it without the expert opinions of the boys at TVG.

I honestly haven't decided yet whether to go to Turf Paradise in Phoenix to watch and play the races there, or to just stay at home on the balcony with a good cigar and a libation, playing and watching the undercard online and then on TV. Probably the latter, especially since Arizona will have a smoking ban in effect May 1, so no cigar inside...

And it isn't just the Derby that day, either. A ton of great races on the card. That is always a forgotten point...
