They mean business. Cleaned out Miami after Loria's latest financial disaster,

Now grab Melky Cabrerra 2 years 18 mil.

Do they really know what they're getting with him? That seems like a lot.

If they are getting a clean Melky, it's way too much.

Just heard they are bringing John Gibbons back to manage. I guess they figure both the Sox and Yanks are retooling and now would be a good time to bust the bank to make a run. This whole thing seems odd.

This should be a wake up call for the other smaller market teams in the MLB.

Baltimore was withing striking distance of 1st or was in first for the better part of the season; Toronto was tied for last place with the Red Sox at the All Star break and never improved - yet both teams had almost identical attendance figures:

The spending spree continues up north.

It's done, Kev. Just has to pass the physical.

So now they have Dickey, Josh Johnson, and Mark Buehrle in the rotation, Melky in Left, Bonifacio at second, Reyes at SS, and they get back Batista and that solid closer they had who had the shoulder problem last year.

They are loaded.

True... but it isn't very often that the Yankees commit to 189mil to avoid the luxury tax - you gotta make hay when Hank puts his wallet away.

No fan of the Blue Jays (even though their spring training camp is like 15-20 minutes away) but it's refreshing to see their fans get rewarded with a commitment like this.

Toronto is not a small market team

Any pitcher can. The truth is knuckleballers are easily the most consistent pitchers year in and year out.

This was a great trade for the Mets. They got a potential star level catcher that is ready to play and a very good power pitching prospect that might be reeady next year. They got Dickey for basically nothing and they leveraged him into 2 potential all star level players in their early 20's

Agreed, the next thing they need to do is get Santana off to a good start and move him.

If Dickey comes close to having the same kind of year he did last year it'll be a good deal for both teams.

Although the Blue Jays play in that "high-school like" spring training stadium, Dunedin is a great town and a fun place to take in a game !!!

Probably best place to see a spring training game in FL. Rarely crowded on weekdays, cheap tickets, small stadium. A few years back got seats 2 rows behind home plate 10 minutes before the game started and starters were Halladay versus Johan Santana when they were both in their primes. Think tickets were like $15 bucks. Parked for free on some side street a few blocks away.
