Someone should probably tell him that the rail is dead.

You have to be careful about telling the riders at Gulfstream that the rail is dead:-)

Makes great sense for Irad. He gets exposure to other outfits and may get KY Derby possibles. Makes it tough on the other jocks there. But that is the way it is. Making Joe Rocco Jr. decision to ride at AQU look like a good decision at this point. Has to make the best of it. Actually a decent jockey group still at AQU. Winter a good opportunity for jocks to catch on with NY trainers still racing there. Big example was Ramon Dominguez. He remained in NY quite a few winters, mostly to be with family, but got great mounts. The money is all green.
Kendrick got his foot in the door of NY through AQU winter. If you can survive the weather and get some connections, it's a great meet for a jock to break into the big time. I also remember Norberto breaking in on the inner. Think with Dutrow. Don't think the end of the inner will be easy. That track was made for a reason. Actually was a great innovation in racing. We used to bitch and moan about it, but it did what it was intended to do. |
