I wasn't sure she'd do much by the way she was acting before the race. What a nice mare.

Cowell was in a state of disbelief as Prohibit returned to the winner's enclosure. "I can't believe that's just happened - has it happened?" he said.

"I'm overwhelmed. I've got sunglasses on, so you won't notice I'm crying. I've had a bit of flak for running him too much, but he thrives on his racing. He's a game horse and I'm chuffed to bits. It's the best day of my racing life - it's awesome."
That's great.

I don't understand making a middle move into the speed horse.... he had a right to be exhausted down the lane, and he was.

I love the Coventry - so many good horses have won it - including Canford Cliffs 2 years ago.

anything could win this but B Fifty Two is a standout for me - I think he'll go close!

Can you explain why they have all these huge races during the work week brock? Does anyone work in Europe or is it just a break from the latest soccer riot and debt crisis?

Yeah, it's an awesome list of winners:

Henrythenavigator in 2007 of course, and the great Mill Reef back in 1970.

I've chucked a place bet on B Fifty Two here on your advice, Brock. He's 35-1 here! Hoping your Prohibit form stays intact.

yeah I agree - I was concerned that his last race left its mark as the winner and runner finished miles clear in that but he looks tough - apologies for my B Fifty Two tip, he ran OK, finished 6th in the end.

not sure the real reason Randall - firstly it is tradition and they try not to change things even though a weekend would allow a lot more people to enjoy it. Like for example, I took a half day off work to watch the racing.

It may also descend from old times when only Lords went racing and sure the days of the week didnt really matter to them, they could go racing whenever they wanted and keeping the good racing mid week would keep all the lower classes from attending.

Haha, don't worry about it. I didn't put much on. I had no idea what to do in that race anyway - the only other one I liked was Trumpet Major, just for the Hannon/Hughes combination (they won the last two Coventrys). He didn't feature either.

And yeah, I thought that was a pretty good run by B Fifty Two.
