Alexandrova turned over
The lads on sportsradio said she got a terrible ride, dropped too far back in a shorter race (10f) than her best. Mandesha, winner of the Prix Vermeille over the course last out, winner of the Prix de l'Opera. This is a relatively new race since in the past females didn't have G1 races for themselves alone aside from the classics. Twenty years ago, all of these ladies would have run in the Arc itself.

Yesterday's results at Longchamp in the Group 2 for Fillies and Mares flattered Mandesha far more than Alexandrova.
I know the 1991 Prix De L'Opera ( seriously ) was one of the great all-time key races with horses coming here especially and performing incredibly. And that was a time when you still got good prices on Euros. I know one of the competitors won a mile turf stake at Aqueduct in probably early November and paid about $15. There were a number of solid winners out of that race. |
