Now, now..... I, for one, would never forget about Proclamation. In my Seven Stars stable and i check the Godolphin gallops every day so good luck, BUT.....

1. Don't EVER bump Peeress again , and

2. Not with Librettist in the same race!

On Imperial Stride, from Fox AU...

Sheik has 'dark horse' for Cup
By Tony Arrold

HIGHLY rated galloper Imperial Stride emerged as the mystery horse of the foreign-trained brigade left in the $5 million Melbourne Cup after the first declaration stage yesterday.

Indeed, he is described as "the dark horse" by Godolphin Racing, the powerful Dubai-based stables of Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.

One of 17 foreign-trained horses left in Cup contention, Imperial Stride was also among yesterday's first declarations for the $2.52 million Caulfield Cup (2400m) and $3.14 million Cox Plate (2040m).

A 20-1 chance for the Melbourne Cup, Imperial Stride was privately bought for Godolphin late last year after he tallied four straight impressive wins in England.

He was sent to Dubai to train during the (northern) winter but sustained an ankle injury which required surgery. As a consequence, Imperial Stride has not raced this year. His long-awaited return is expected next Wednesday when he runs in Godolphin's blue colours for the first time, in a 2000m event at Goodwood, England.

"As far as Australia is concerned, everything hinges on this race, how he performs and recovers from it," said Allan Byrne, Godolphin's media spokesman, from England last night.

"He is very much a 'dark horse' for us as he has not yet run for us and he is about to run for the first time in a long while.

"He has been left in all three races because we are in the dark with him.

"But if it is that he does well in the (Goodwood) race and afterwards, and he goes to Australia, I would think that (trainer) Saeed bin Suroor will have a talk with (jockey) Kerrin McEvoy about the best option and pass all that over to Sheikh Mohammed who will have the final say."

Godolphin Racing initially nominated seven horses for the Melbourne Cup but is now left with only the seasoned runner Cherry Mix, a feature race winner under McEvoy in Germany three weeks ago, plus Imperial Stride and the 200-1 chance Kerashan, a modest racehorse but a likely lead horse for the other two should the trip be approved.

Imperial Stride drew high praise for his late-season form last year when he earned an annual rating of 127 by the internationally recognised Timeform organisation.

He was the highest-rated horse of all the European-trained entries for the Melbourne Cup, including Yeats who was assessed at 125.

Yeats, who was last week rated the 59kg topweight of the 262 original Cup entries, 3.5kg above Imperial Stride, is among the first declarations. But his travels plans to Melbourne are still far from decided.

Unbeaten in his only two starts this year, Yeats is a confirmed runner among 11 starters in the Irish St Leger (2800m) on Saturday.

With outstanding wins in the Ascot Gold Cup and Doncaster Cup, Yeats is clearly Europe's best stayer this year and he is a prohibitive favourite to add the Irish St Leger to his record.

Hey Brock, how are you doing?

If you check out a preview I've done for timeform which is on the QEII thread, you'll see I've plumped for Proclamation. Still think George Washington is by some way the most likely winner, but can't be seen to be backing horses like that at 6/4 or so!
