Since today's feature race at the Spa is the Coaching Club American Oaks, I strongly recommend reading an excellent article in this morning's Saratoga Special on the history of both this storied race and the Coaching Club for which is was named.

The Coaching Club of America was formed in 1875 to honor the tradition of handling a coach and 4 with a single group of reins. This will mark the 104th running of the race, which has been part of the Triple Tiara series and has been run at a variety of distances, mostly at Belmont. I vividly remember the duel at 1 1/2 miles between Meadow Star and Lite Lite, and then the amazing Sky Beauty under a much younger Mike Smith.

Hope you enjoy both the article and the historic race.

My curbside analysis suggests that the early races will be formfull and somewhat chalky, so the ticket stays very narrow. That's probably the surest reason to say "bombs away"

Race 2:

$3.50 Pick 4: 1,3 / 1,7 / 1 / 4,6,9 [$42]
$1.50 Pick 4: 1,3 / 1,7 / 7 / 4,6,9 [$18]
$13 Pick 4: 1 / 7 / 1 / 4,6,9 [$39]

Good luck to all and thank you to Real Quiet for scoring.

Did he use Jersey Joe in the finale?

I had taken a flier on Our Super Freak, trying to come out of the clouds. Was hopeful for a moment.

Not sure what he had. Last thing I saw was he was in 3rd along with some others. Don't know if that was the final tally or not.
Whatever, it was a pretty good effort.

I think they are final. He's tied with 6 others for 3rd place. That's a money position Well done, Cruz.

Having Lights Down Low in Race 6 made all of the difference for Cruzan. The total payout of $147.80 keyed a large bankroll for all of the top players. Only 2% of the contest players used her.

I noticed that $100 plus payoff and figured he must have hit that one. Kudos to him. Not sure where I finished. Will have to go back and look. #270 or thereabouts I think which was a decent effort considering I spent about on hour on it. I've done worse than that and stayed up all night to do it.

Nope. I was wrong. I think I was 270 after race 13 then dropped down to 336 after the last race.
