I'd really like to go but I'm on the fence due to the chance for rain. The latest forecast says rainfall amounts near 0.3 inches. Assuming this is accurate, anyone have an idea on how whittled down the fields may be due to scratches? I'm only familiar with Delaware, where there's a slew of scratches when someone in the stands spills a beer.

much as like hansen, i think this is where you try to beat the favorite. i agree that there could be big payouts.

95 Beyer for Hansen in victory. The time was considerably faster than It's Tricky ran in victory at the same distance earlier in the card ... but obviously you needed a variant split because the track was sealed for one race and opened up for the other.

Considering the figure maker had no other routes to work with -- he was probably a little too stingy with that 95.

These are lightly raced 3-year-olds ... 12 horses in this race made their previous start on a dirt surface ... and all 12 of them went backwards on Beyers from their last start.

To me, it's hard to justify giving this race anything less than a 98. Could even be as high as a 100.

I'm still not sold on him getting 10 furlongs the first Saturday in May, but rating like he did today will do wonders for Hansen. Before today he was basically a run off speed horse.

Nice training job by Maker and having Ramon obviously doesn't hurt.

Finally taking the blinkers off for the first time in his career helped him settle more than usual ... but I dunno Hossy, he still looked pretty aggressive to me.

I agree with you about the Derby. He certainly has the raw speed of a Derby winner..but all of the last 20 Derby winners except War Emblem and sometimes Funny Cide wouldn't get as aggressive as he does in the first few furlongs.
