I remember earlier this year you told me POTN was the favorite for the Classic because of the surface.

I know it was you Brian... You told me " his Santa Anita Derby win was DEVESTATING"
You said Baffert would have him ready to fire a career best effort in the BCC.

I think the DRF mentioned a day or two ago that they are not pointing to the BC with that filly.

Just as Well might be pointing to the Canadian International next weekend at Woodbine. If he runs there, he could wheel back in 3 weeks for the Breeders Cup Turf. Champs Elysees could also wheel back for a BC race (Classic or Turf) after running in the same race at Woodbine.

Steve Crist posted on his blog today, "If Cowboy Cal and Court Vision are now the leading American hopes for the Breeders' Cup Mile, the europeans should sleep well tonight."

He posted again after the Goodwood, "They're not only sleeping well in Europe tonight, they're probably laughing. Gitano Hernando had been considered a more serious candidate for the $500k Marathon than the $5 million Classic, but today's result may make his connections, and several others, take a longer look at the Classic. Students of time, however, will note that Zenyatta's winning time of 1:42.89 for 8.5f was sharply inferior to Gitano Hernando's 1:48.39 for 9f in the Goodwood 35 minutes earlier."

Look for the Europeans to be overflowing the entry box, which should make some of the races more difficult to handicap and less attractive for American bettors.

Why? Because of Crist's comments?

All the Euros already realize how soft the BC races will be this year and plenty of them have been pointing here since last year's successful invasion.

The races become far more intriguing as an American bettor with the Euros in partially because if you do your homework you'll have a huge edge on those you'll be sharing the pools with and subsequently because those who can't handicap Euro form will rely on the mostly weaker American contingent and skew the odds accordingly.

Forever Together seems to have lost a step this year.

If Goldakova is the heavy choice in the mile, I will have no problem at all trying to beat her with CC and CV.

Looked mighty impressive at Keeneland yesterday. Ventura and Indian Blessing will take a lot of money in the F&M Sprint, which should provide a better price for Informed Decision (who beat Ventura the only time they faced each other).

There is no possible way that Informed Decision is a higher price then Indian Blessing on that surface.... Informed Decision and Ventura will be the choices and if you like Indian Blessing you might get a little bit of a price.

Thanks Steve. This is getting very interesting as we get closer to the big day.

One question, have you heard that Hero's Reward (not on your list) is not going to run in the BC Turf Sprint? He is entered in Saturday's prep race in Canada along with Chamberlain Bridge, who I noticed you have on this list. I remember Hero's Reward had trouble in last year's BC race (down the hill) but was prominent in the stretch.

.

And with Kodiak Kowboy questionable, this is the worst sprint field in years. I think Midnight Lute could come out of retirement tomorrow and easily beat this field.
