Default Belmont Sunday 6/17

Anyone going? I'll be making the schlep early in the morning from Tampa to Elmont as I've got 2 fairly live entries making a go of it...Hope at least one of these fillies can bring dear ole' dad a Father's day gift to remember

Race 6

Pretty evenly matched group - the unknown is the 10 Miss Blarney Stone - a NY bred Dynaformer filly shipped in from Ireland and training at 'toga since late April for her first start since Oct. Currently considered the m/l favorite...Not really crazy about the limited success the enjoyed abroad, and how that form will translate after an 8 month layoff. And the crappy post. No thanks.

Linda Rice brings a Freud filly from the Karakourm barn The 3 Karakourm Electra - broke mdn 5/3/07 at a 1 1/16th against a particularly suspect field - third place finisher (Small Potatoes) has broken since. Possible, might use under.

Visual Candy the 4...This is a horse that we've faced 3 times in the past - 4th to her 3rd place finish in the East View, and we've had her number the last two starts...Could be on the improve 3rd off, and prove dangerous.

The 9 Sax in the City - we beat her pretty soundly last out, but again, an nice filly that can certainly improve 2nd off the long layoff - ought to be close.

The 2 Tomorrow's Nano - stretching out to a route of ground for the first time, Houghton 9% doing so from a 34 horse sample.. not particularly bred for the classic trip, who knows

The 8 Twistaway - Don't believe there's much there....there. They've been running this filly over her head since the East View and I'm not the biggest fan of Wheelaways to begin with (save for Margie's Smile he has been a bust as a stallion in my opinion) nothing to indicate to me at least that she's a factor against this field.

The 5 AMERICAN DREAM'A 6-1 m/l...Has been training well and loves the grass, nipped at the wire by our entrymate last out but finished gamely beaten 3/4 of a length...Pace should set up a bit differently but we get Coa back and he should be able to keep her closer to a soft early pace for the late charge to the wire

Race 10

The 9 TOO MUCH ZIP 2-1 m/l - draw a line through her second start - she came out of the race with a case of the "Thumps" which developed quickly and rather nastily into a viral infection that cost her about 175 lbs before it was all over and her owners and trainer a fairly serious cause for concern....10 weeks later She came back in her classy form only to get caught up with a missile in Magical Mona last out. She is fine, fit and ready to roll with a bullet 1.00.2/5ths one work back. Don't see much here to contend with - possibly the 2 Vilify (Baker 25% when taking a horse off), the 11 Heavenly Ballad for T. Albertrani, ot the 1 Pretty Gal, a 100k OutoftheBox purchase making her first start with two impressive works coming in- including a 1.00 flat 5f 2 back....

Anyhow - should be a great day at Big Sandy, my first trip there and looking forward to it - If any one else is heading over - shoot me a pm or swing by the Team Penney table in the clubhouse resturant.

Happy Father's Day, Good Luck and great racing

Belmont Park is simply a magnificant place to spend a day. Since it's your first time going to Belmont, I'd recommend going up to the third floor and just walk out to the grandstand. Take in that beautiful sight. I never get tired of going there.

Default Good Luck

Ditto. Love Belmont Park. Have a Great Father's Day and looks like you should get the nightcap.

Well, a tough day but an enjoyable one spent with friends at one of the premiere venues for horse racing in the country.

American Dream'a was running a great race and making her move, then just stopped. Coa said he thought there was something wrong with her because she was full of run and quit - thinking she may have bled, we scoped her after the race and found her lungs full of mucous - she looked a little washed out in the paddock and that may have been why.

Too Much Zip just looked as though she wanted no part of it yesterday...Can't really explain the effort, she looked as though she was throwing her head a bit in the stretch, don't know if the heat got to her (didn't seem to bother the winner) or if maybe increasing her Lasix (had her on a minimal dose) may help...

Disappointing to say the least, especially after going off as the favorite in the nightcap - but that's the way this game goes...like they say, the highest highs and the lowest lows...

And for an encore the flight leaving JFK for Tampa was delayed 5 hours getting in at 2 am instead of the scheduled 10:15pm...needless to say, work has been a joy this morning lol
