Default Venue for 4/3

Big weekend of racing coming up with the 3 big preps, The Wood, Bluegrass Stakes, and the Santa Anita Derby. I'm thinking we will focus on one of the tracks with its prep and have the other two preps as bonus races. Will wait until Wednesday to determine which track seems best for the main focus. Hope that is ok with everyone.

Keenland probably the most logical choice. They always seem to have full fields and we would get to see Essential Quality, the derby favorite at the moment, I think, but will wait to see what everything looks like.

I never agree with Ruffian. I like Santa Anita.

That might not be a bad choice considering the choke hold Bobby B. has on the KD, but you never know what the supporting Stakes will look like at S. Anita . Could be good or not so much.

Keenland with 6 Graded Stakes seems to be the best place to be. Race 4 through Race 11 and then add in Race 8 the Santa Anita Derby and Race 10 the Wood Memorial. 10 races total.

Sounds good to me. Keeneland 4-11, Santa Anita 8 & 10.

Alli, a small correction. Cal is trying to include the Derby preps this Saturday. Our schedule will be Keeneland 4-11, then Aqueduct Race 10 [the Wood] and then Santa Anita Race 8 [the Santa Anita Derby]. Should be a lot of fun.

NBC Sports will provide TV coverage beginning at 5:30 EDT that hopefully will cover all three Derby preps.

Thanks for keeping me straight! I would've been wrong again this weekend.

My daughter found out a couple of weeks ago that she has breast cancer, so I'm doing everything I can to take care of her and I'm even more scatterbrained.

Keep me posted guys and make sure I'm capping the right races! Thank you!

Alli, we are just happy that you are able to join us each week for our handicapping endeavors. I only hope that it provides you with some enjoyment and a short distraction from what must be a very difficult burden to carry.

Alli, I really don't know you except through our internet banter, but my heart goes out to anyone in your situation. As Joly said, hope that the friendly competition here provides you with some welcome distraction. Wishing the best for you and your daughter in this trying time.

Thanks, Cal, and everyone.

My daughter, Erin, is doing well. She has just completed 4 days of chemotherapy and has been feeling tired, but good.

I do enjoy handicapping and it is a welcomed respite. Just need to keep the schedule straight! I was so upset with myself when I realized I was an hour late. I watched the races anyway and enjoyed that.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop!

When I lost my Precious Pomeranian, Qrfluffl last June...
It happened so suddenly
All within 2 weeks and she was gone 💔

Emergency gallbladder surgery and a $10,000 hospital vet bill

And four days after returning from the hospital ...
She went to sleep 💤 ... and never woke up again

She left me with a broken heart 💔
And $10,000 in debt

My only consolation was holding my Cat 🐈
Hugging My Horse 🐎
*** And Thoroughbred Racing Contests 🐎
Diversion Helps To focus on something other than our pain

They say ...
Time Heals A Broken Heart 💔

I know that not to be true
I’m still crying 😢 after 15 years
Losing my beloved Arabian Horse, Destiny to Colic

I have lost A Dad + Husband to car crashes 😲 💔 😢
And my grief over my animals is no less than over them

My Heart truly knows the pain of loss and heartache 😔
So my empathy with Alli Is founded in experience

To quote Barbaro connections
Grief Is The Price We Pay For Love 💗

When I Lost Destiny ~ somebody told me this

Do not cry because she is gone
Smile 😊 for the time you shared

Great news about your daughter Alli. Give her an extra chocolate Easter Bunny for me.
