Default Egg Salad at Belmont

Does anyone remember those Egg Salad sandwiches at Belmont ? I think it was when Harry Stevens had the concession. They were on a fresh kaiser roll. I think it might have been on floor 2, but not sure. They were the best. For many years I'd drive 3 hours to Belmont and the first thing I'd want was one of those
Egg Salad sandwiches. To this day, they are the best I've eaten.

Now, this brought back memories. Absolutely remember those sandwiches. Also on a cold opening day (like today was), how about the Manhattan Clam Chowder from the concession area on the second floor?

At first I thought it was groundhog day. But then realized it's just the standard Biennial Egg Salad Post.

Calder had the same Harry Stevens concession on the 4th floor. Tuna instead of egg salad though IIRC. They also had the clam chowder, etc. I miss Calder.

Must have been a hell of an egg salad sandwich.

They had that clam chowder bar at Saratoga. Think the guy's name was Clem. He took me in a showed it to me one day. They had 2 or 3 huge pressure cookers, probably around 40 gallons each.

Steve may know more about it. I'm sure they had a similar setup at Belmont. In fact, it may have been the same as they used to put everything in trucks and take it up north. Ticket machines, liquor, beer, napkins, tablecloths, everything.

It was a really good egg salad sandwich. Nothing fancy, but fresh.
