Default Zatopek and Prodigioso land well together

Though they marched onto the (Pimlico) dirt track side-by-side last weekend to participate in the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, an event to honor the Thoroughbred sport horse, the pair took very different paths getting there.

The story of Prodigioso brought tears to my eyes during The Makeover. He looked so happy to be cantering out there. Ears pricked. Gentle. Most humans couldn't live as gracefully, and be as happy, having gone through the terrors he survived.

How a horse only 2 generations removed from Dixieland Band and Black Tie Affair ends up wandering in the Everglades is mindblowing to me. Okay, so he's not a runner. But at least make an effort to place him. Hell, make an effort to place them all, regardless of pedigree.
