Default Santa Anita 9/28 Race 8

This isn't so much a trip observation, but a toteboard observation....either way it may warrant a strong playback so I figure this is the place to share.

Santa Anita
Sunday 9/28
Race 8

2 yr old MSW

#5 Ol' Fashion Gal

Didn't do much running but was off slowly, then bobbled around a bit in a bulky field going 6 furlongs. Some excuses. Went off at 7-1. This is what I found interesting.

There was a 1-2 favorite in the race prior. Ol Fashion Gal was not only the favorite in the DD to that horse but was a strong favorite to almost every other horse in the race. I think that speaks volumes as Ol Fashion Gal was in against 2 Baffert firsters and some seemingly other well meant 2 year olds. To be a strong fav in DD into the teeth of the other money taking types has to be meaningful. I would imagine if the 1-2 shot had won, the win pool to Ol' Fashion Gal would have taken a big hit. That DD was around $10. But with that one not getting it done there was big money waiting in the doubles.

The 2nd start for this one will not reflect the type of action this Casse FTS took yesterday. She was bet very hard with "sneaky" money. I have seen many times the well bet firsters fail with the money on them and then come back with little support to run to the talent that someone obviously saw at some point. (Om is the most obvious example recently that I can think of)

Ol' Fashion Gal was bet hard yesterday and I am counting on that money being correct next time out at a "Big Bonus" mutual.

Just occurred to me that we could possibly get a second payday on this one. Seemingly well meant on DIRT. If they move back might get overlooked based on a TURF race, with lone dirt try described above.

Will reinvest if the times comes.

Wins again and pays $45.60. Reinvestment worked out well.

This is a nice animal.

Thanks!

May still squeeze one more price out of this one if they try a big DIRT race at Santa Anita. May even love down the hill.

Can't figure where they go next.

Been waiting for her to pop up at Santa Anita, but while going through the Gulfstream card for tomorrow....Bang! Casse ships her east for the Grade 3 Sweetest Chant.

5-1 ML. Post 5. Lezcano up. May drift up a bit because numbers a bit light. Should sit a pocket trip behind a fast pace and get 1st run.

To the well one more time....
