I think she clearly does, won over it earlier in the year with a decent beyer off of a latoff, working great over it, and should get the best trip of all at a decent price for her.

2-1 on her is shaky, a lot of questions surround her. This isn't a 4 horse field of 3YO's, she's gonna get bumped around and at that ML price i'm looking elsewhere for value, b/c there is a lot of value in this race

She is this year's version of Dream Rush - has dominated the 3yo fillies sprinting but hasn't met the really good older sprinters (that lot at Belmont were not much, all 3 of them). But because she was 2yo champion and Baffert is talking her up, she is getting a lot of press. She may be on a par with the older female sprinters, but she hasn't proven it yet and her price will be too low, taking that into account.

Zenyatta, on the other hand, has beaten last year's champion Ginger Punch (who has beaten nearly everything else on the East Coast), has beaten Hystericalady (as has Ginger Punch). IMHO, Hystericalady has had a nice career and made a good bit of money by showing up where the heavy-weights aren't running. Carriage Trail is a wildcard, since she hadn't been running in the top division until the Spinster.

Speaking of which..., There was an article in the Lexington paper a couple of days before the Spinster about Unbridled Belle. It turns out that two races previously she had flipped in the paddock and run below par. Then the next time she went to the paddock for a race, she started shaking like a leaf, came a distant third in a race that was right up her alley. They were hoping that if she kept coming to the paddock and DIDN'T get hurt again, she would settle down and run her race, but she was not a happy camper on Spinster day and finished down the track (I got off her - Carriage Trail was the next best). I saw none of this talked about in the industry press and wonder if it comes as news to you folks. It wasn't as if they were making a secret of it.

They talked about Undbridled Belle flipping in the paddock during the coverage of that race. I'm still not sure why she gets any attention or respect.

Regarding Indian Blessing - she is superior to any older female sprinter. There aren't really (m)any good ones anyways. But, of course, it comes down to surface. She barely held off Golden Doc A (granted, that was a while ago, on a different surface, etc.) in her one synthetic start. If she takes to the surface and runs her race, the only horse that can really beat her is Zaftig because we're still not sure how good Zaftig is or how she'll like the Pro-Ride. But at 2-1 or less she's worth playing against. I'll be using Ventura and Zaftig in my PK3s. . . If slow-as-molasses Intangaroo wins I give up. . .

My request arises from respectful curiosity; on what do you base this statement? I am always interested in how other, probably better, handicappers make these judgments.

Name one who is even close to being on her level. She's MUCH faster than all of them. . .

Default Lady Sprinter ?

From the Racing Post

Lady Sprinter

"Argentina´s Champion sprinter, this filly has never been headed while winning all eight of her starts on dirt in very fast time. However, she´s never run beyond five furlongs or gone around a turn. And the only time she ran on anything but dirt she lost her action"

I wonder if she will make sure Dream Rush has to work for the lead.

do you mean her 1 race, first as a 3 yr old, off a layoff, where she earned a 92 beyer ?

At 3, Indian Blessing has won the Test and Prioress in New York, plus the Santa Ynez at Santa Anita in the winter, these being her sprint wins vs. her age group.

At 3 in 2007, Dream Rush won the Test and Prioress AND the Nassau County in New York, plus the Old Hat at Gulfstream in the winter, these being her sprint wins vs. her age group.

These are rather similar profiles, if you ask me.

Good job. You've proved that Indian Blessing and Dream Rush have similar profiles if you totally cherry pick which races you mention.

However, she's actually commenting BEFORE the race. Which is (novel and) a good thing.

I only mentioned the sprint races that they ran in versus their fellow 3yos to show that each was dominant in that division. I ignored the 8f+ races since they are irrelavent to the discussion. I tried to show that Dream Rush had dominated the 3yo filly sprinters last year as thoroughly as Indian Blessing has this year. DR went off at 3/1 in the BC FM Sprint and finished fifth, beaten by some older mares that most of us would think of as less than stellar (Maryfield, Miraculous Miss). Indian Blessing beat some overnight-type older mares in New York, which gives us no idea whether she is on a par with the top older mares in the division. She may well be; it's just that we have to take it on faith that she is if we take a low price on her.

I can't stay up any longer to argue with you. Go to the PPs and see who have won and placed in the G1s and G2s.

Take a second look at Lady Sprinter. "Led throughout" in every win. You can toss all three of them immediately as pace casualties.

Gonna hope IB can run on this junk and go with her on top of Ventura with Tiz Elemental third, Zaftig fourth.

Going with Mauralakana over Halfway to Heaven with Wait a While third and Pure Clan fourth.
