He was supposed to run in the Manhattan but couldn't because of licensure problems so there weren't too many other options for him.

He's really shown great form on dirt, so I completely understand the decision.

While you're watching the greatest dirt horse in the world in all his majesty,
can you pass along a snide complaint about einstein on dirt?
thx

I know about the Manhattan but this just seems like a stupid spot to run him - especially after how he ran in the Donn.

I could understand the placement if the horse excelled at dirt. I haven't seen that, at least not in his US career.

Curlin on top

High Blues or Red Rock Creek offer value underneath, while big names (barcola, einstein, grasshopper) are hit or miss.

Brass Hat - Did Calvin Borel work him on June 7th?

Yes ^.

“I wanted him to pick it up late, and he did that,” Bradley said. “I started timing him at the three-quarter pole and had him going six furlongs in 1:14 and 2 (fifths), galloping out seven-eighths in 1:26 and 2 and out the mile in 1:40.”
Borel, who rode the seven-year-old son of Prized for the first time in the mile and a half Louisville Handicap (GIII) on the turf in his most recent start, was equally pleased with the work.
“I let him gallop out past the wire and he was strong,” Borel said. “They had better come with their running shoes on next week.”

Brass Hat should be slightly improved, is in good shape, and should have a good chance to finish in the money.

am i the only one giving grasshopper a decent shot at winning this... i remember a few years ago mineshaft went down in this race at very short odds to perfect drift... i just think grasshopper's last 2 were totally out of his game, 1 mile and sloppy.... could be sitting on something huge
