The Spectacular Bid biography from the Thoroughbred Legends series has The Paster workout in 1:35 2/5.

Yep. 4f in :46 flat before the Derby.

Come to think of it, I think 4f in :46 flat was also the number for Stevie Wonderboy's pre-BC workout that I referenced earlier.

I don't think the track was recorded as being particularly fast when Stevie Wonderboy did it. I have absolutely no recollection of what it was like when UnbSng had his workout.

in bar shoes with a quarter crack that should have kept him far far away from the Derby.

Good ol' Paragallo doing what is right for his horses like always! Doubt Ryerson even had a choice in the matter.

I know what you mean. Asking a horse with bad legs and a quarter crack to bounce back from a blistering workout to win a 10f race from post #20 is sure asking an awful lot of any horse.
On the flip-side, he was the most talented horse in the race. I imagine it is pretty difficult to decide not to run when you know your horse is the most talented animal in the Kentucky Derby....and he did run pretty damn well.

...if only Mike Smith would have moved earlier and went wider on the turn.
