I would include Braulio Baeza & Angel Cordero Jr. on my short list of great jocks.

Anybody remember Robyn C Smith...she might have been one of the best looking..and she got a few mounts from AG Vanderbilt..

of course, the charts wont tell you the whole story, so it's best to have seen it, or go to calracing to watch it.
And Mobo's rider met the dirt about 3 jumps out of the gate, while Mobo ran on without him, gaining second, no less. O'Neill's other entry, Try To Fly, by Trippi, got to the wire 5 ahead of him, earning a Beyer, I believe, of 98.

I went thru the whole list and I did not see Eddie Arcaro and I almost passed out and then... yes. But I am putting Shoemaker down further.

I remember her; I think she married Fred Astaire. My alltime favorite jockey, the one I consider best, is Angel Cordero, Jr.

I had Cordero on there but he got squeezed out by Tod Sloan... who was a much better dresser than Angel.

11. Angel Cordero
12. Jacinto Vasquez
13. Johnny Longden
14. Jorge Velasquez
15. Manny Ycaza
16. George Wolff
17. Braulio Baeza
18. Gary Stevens
19. Snapper Garrison
20. Pat Day

Yes she did...he was 55 years older than her....
1973 North Sea (4) 117 1:33 3/5 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Robert P. Lake Robyn C. Smith
I think she was the first female jockey to win a major race in the US...

She use to rent a house in my neighborhood for the Saratoga Meets in the early 70's
Other August residents that rented in that same neighborhood included Mack Miller, Braulio Baeza, & Leroy Jolley.

Obviously she does not belong on a list of top jockeys ever...

as usual we had to read through pages of nonsense where posters acted like the world began in 1980, until kasept brought some sanity to the thread.
this is not a subjective question.
there is a RIGHT answer.
that answer is eddie arcaro.
