![]() just saw the race.. Super run by DCat, it's the first time in a while that hes faced proper useful horses and won nicely in the end.... onwards and upwards from here I hope.. If only he can stay injury free (easier said than done though!!)

they will spot him conservatively. they retired Lammtarra undefeated, and he was spotted a lot more aggresively than DCat. Repent |

yeah, and 3 of those 4 were the biggest races in all of Europe. Id say he was campaigned much more aggresively at the age of 3 than DCat was. Repent |

![]() you guys are out of your minds if you thinking running in the UAE Derby, a Saratoga alllowance, the Jerome and the Cigar Mile is a more aggresive campaign than the Derby, the King George and the Arc.
it does not get any tougher than that and Lammtarra won all 3. Repent |

![]() Yeah, and the Sheik actually said when retiring him " he's done enough ". Wouldn't even bring him over to face the tough Northern Spur in the BC.
The guy really is a sport. |

![]() Discreet Cat's year was cut short due to physical problems. This horse had soreness issues since the very beginning and it really wasn't until late in the summer that he came around. Much as I would have liked to have seen him run more it seems very apparent they did the right thing with him. I know for a fact that he was much better physically in the Fall than he was in the late Spring.

![]() It think the earliest we see him is the Stephen Foster and more likely the Whitney. Whatever the case, i hope he stays sound, survives Dubai, and comes back as good if not better. Nothing wrong with seeing good horses run even if it's far too infrequently.

hes not a sport. never said he was. what I said was that its very possible DCat will retire undefeated just as Lammtarra did. and yes, they were much more aggresive with Lamm. dont pretend he did not have "physical problems" as well. Repent |

Lammtarra did not get an aggressive campaign by any stretch of the imagination. What he did do in his absurdly short career was run in three of the biggest races in Europe. What he did not do that they are at least planning to do with Discreet Cat is run as a 4YO. While I understand they do need to win some big races with Discreet Cat to cement his status going to the breeding shed I am at a loss to remember Lammtarra's roster of Grade 1 and Group 1 winners. Please, feel free to enlighten me. If the list gets too long for one post feel free to start a second. |

Lamm was campaigned more aggresively than DCat as a 3YO. anything about DCat's campaign beyond that is pure speculation. and what are you asking for? grade/group 1 winners sired by Lamm? are you kidding? what does that have to do with anything? Repent |

![]() Discreet Cat's physical situation is not speculation in my case. I can understand why you may choose not to believe me but I know well about it.
Lammtarra's progeny is relevent because he retired him prematurely to the breeding shed, much like Bernardini, so if he was a failure as a sire it was a certain waste not to race him anymore. If he was a rousing success as a sire his early retirement might be more justifiable. |

sorry I misunderstood. im not saying DCat's physical situation is speculation. Im sure you know what you are speaking of. Im saying his campaigning beyond his 3YO is pure speculation. so thats why I compare Lamm's campaign to DCat's and I conclude Lamm was spotted more aggresively(Epsom, King George, and Arc) despite his physical ailments. as for his progency, he is a Japanese stallion and has little to show. I honestly dont know if he still is in Japan. Repent |

![]() Oh, I agree, Discreet Cat's accomplishments this year are OK but certainly not a vast resume of success, and pale in comparison, laughably so, to Lammtarra's winning the Derby, King George and Arc. I find their handling of Lammtarra overall to be absurd, and indicative of their general disinterest in racing truly good horses, but winning those three races is HUGE.

![]() from bloodhorse:
Sheikh Mohammed Re-Purchases Lammtarra Date Posted: August 1, 2006 Last Updated: August 3, 2006 Sheikh Mohammed has bought back Japanese stallion Lammtarra from Arrow Stud, but there are no plans yet to stand him under the banner of Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation, according to the Racing Post. An English and French champion, Lammtarra raced for Sheikh Mohammed's nephew, Saeed Maktoum al Maktoum, whose father, Sheikh Maktoum, bred Lammtarra in the name of his Gainsborough Farm. As a 3-year-old in 1995, Lammtarra achieved a remarkable triple by winning the Vodafone Epsom Derby (Eng-I), King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Eng-I), and the Trusthouse Forte Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I). He was only the second horse--the first was Mill Reef in 1971--to win those three races in one year. Lammtarra's victory in the Epsom Derby proved extra special in that he was the first Derby winner produced from the winner of two Epsom classics. His sire, Nijinsky II, had won the Epsom Derby, and his dam, Snow Bride (by Blushing Groom), was awarded the Gold Seal Epsom Oaks (Eng-I) following the disqualification of Aliysa. Lammtarra stood his first season at Sheikh Mohammed's Dalham Hall Stud near Newmarket, England, then was sold to a group of Japanese breeders for $30 million following that 1996 breeding season. He has sired six stakes winners and seven stakes-placed runners. ----------his '06 fee was 'private'. maybe the sheik will donate him to ky horse park.
