You can hire an illegal to drive you around for a day for $50.

Just wondering . . . fought with it last fall and through the winter at Turfway and finally ended up profitable. This revised poly is better . . . should be better to play than the old stuff.

There was a time when I played Turfway alot, about 7 years ago, but I do not play it much, unless it was Spiral or Ky Cup Day, now that they have Poly, I do not play them even on those days. It's like taking money and putting it in a blender.

I have no use for Keeneland, that Poly stuff is rediculous, you just don't know if horses are going to fire on it or not.

I would get my butt kicked in the Spring Meet at KEE, but Fall was my best Meet of the Year, I would crush that place in the Fall. It's depressing to me what they have done, I will not visit even to play simulcast. I still have Churchill and Belmont, those are my main tracks now and that's not all bad...

PointG5,

I've heard a lot of people say the same thing. In every racebook I've been to people have said they quit playing the poly. Turfway reports handle up. I wonder sometimes if they are telling the truth. I was there on KY Cup day and the crowd looked really small to me. Smallest I can remember.

Maybe the poly will prove so hard to handicap that bettors will leave horseracing. I hope all tracks don't switch.

And you're right . . . some horses just don't run on it. And it's tough to tell how shippers will like it.

I think the handle has increased, because they have missed less days due to weather...

Keeneland should be a good barometer, because the quality of horses and the meet, we'll see how the handle is there...

I also love Lexington. I love going to the horse farms, I love driving around the area, and I love going to the bars at night. I wish the food didn't suck and I wish the bars stayed open til 4am, but you can't have everything....unless you live in NYC.
Even some of us young 'uns can't hack it past 2 AM! But you're right on the money about the abundance of Rafferty's and O'Charley's and Applebees Worth it for the bluegrass & fresh air, though...

I went to a Wedding this weekend in Paris, KY, I had to drive from Winchester to Paris on a back road, it was a beautiful Fall day and the drive was just amazing, drove right past Claiborne and some other farms, seeing some of the young horses out in the fields, it was really a great drive...

The rehearsal dinner was at a place called Dudley's, food wasn't bad there, probably the best I have had in Lexington, never been to NYC, so I can't compare it to that, but it wasn't bad, better than I expected for a rehearsal dinner...

I'm a New Englander all the way...I moved to Lexington last spring and it never felt like home so I came back.

Dudley's is OK....probably one of the best spots to eat in town.

I love going to Claiborne. I've been there four times. The first time I went I had a difficult time understanding the guide that was showing me around. He kept saying " Secretariat's buried HO ". I finally realized he meant " Whole ".

I find Dudley's to be overpriced with underwhelming food.

But it's certainly where the TB folks go to be seen!

well the trainers at keeneland obviously arent having a problem with it according to thursdays formhttp://drf.com/news/article/79229.html

im so sick of hearing oh i cant bet the poly.....and some of you people actually consider yourselves horseplayers and good handicappersLOL? like youve never had to adjust before when handicapping, for instance track bias! i guess aqueduct shouldnt run their inner meet either since some horses absolutely hate it........gimme a break!

It is tiring listening to the poly-griping. Just admit that you're either A. too lazy to work with it, B. pretending to be uninterested because it is too challenging, or C. just like to bithc.
It's still racing

Enjoy the racing. (And the above traditions, too!)
Agree with the beautiful UK co-eds statement. Never been to Keeneland, but hit Turfway for what used to be Jim Beam day probably 7 years ago. Never seen as many beautiful girls in one place (all having UK t / sweatshirts on) with the one exception of Del Mar on Friday night (actually most Del Mar days, but they are different types of women vs UK).

The one way I guess you could handicap the Poly is to make all of your selections that make sense and then go the complete opposite direction...

Why do you think KEE is so busy, because the BC is at CD this year...Also, they are filling their stalls with cheap horses....Geesh, some people will believe anything they read...
