I would consider golf a sport but please stop pretending that walking a golf course is any real athletic exercise. Especially when they stop every couple hundred yards for 1-2 minutes to ponder over and hit a shot. The only type of walking that yields any athletic gain is powerwalking done for a very extended period of time...at least 30 to 45 minutes.

Tiger is freakishly athletic in a sport which has so many out of shape slobs in it like John Daly, Tim Herron and Phil Mickelson, all of which are consistently near the top of the leaderboard in major tournaments.

Phil did look heavy at the PGA...Tiger's the only one who stays properly motivated, and brings it every time, plus he does thrive under pressure...one time the first tee was in front of an open clubhouse and everyone was watching me tee off, I missed the ball like 5 times in a row, men, ladies, children, were all laughing at me (and pointing), it really took me back to high school...but I'm not bad when nobody's watching...in a PGA event I'd have a panic attack and throw my club in the air and then jump in a water hazard

it's a game of tremendous skill and concentration, I just prefer a Jordan who competed against athletes in the prime physical shape of their lives

Tiger Woods is extremely good at golf.

I don't consider him an athlete though.

Just my personal feeling on things. And I can drive a golf ball 300 yards in my cowboy boots.

Golf takes tons of skill. As far as athleticism goes, I just dont see how being physically fit helps out the top players all that much. Phil Mickelson has played the best golf of his life as hes packed on the pounds. He never won a major until he became very overweight. John Daly has been in bad health for as long as hes played on the tour. Tim Herron is the poster boy for Krispy Kremes yet his name consistently floats around at the top of some very big leaderboards. Lets face it, Tiger is the exception to the rule. He could probably have played a lot of sports at a very high level but was god blessed with golf skills unlike anyone we've ever seen. He is also blessed with great genes and has an intense work ethic. Doesnt hurt that he hung around with college football players at Stanford for 4 years.

Conversely look at tennis, a sport where the greatest athletes are rewarded. Its no coincidence that guys like Federer and Nadal are dominating the game. Look at them. And Agassi, Courier, Chang, Edberg and Becker, all very physically fit and all at the top of tennis at one time or another.

2 years at Stanford, sorry Kev. Two years of spending hours a day in the weight room lifting weights with football players, bench pressing 300 pounds.
I just dont think Phil did that at ASU, do you?

Well, I can say there are not too many people that can hit an 8 iron from 6 inces of ruff 135 yards to the green. Most people couldn't even advance the ball 5 ft. That takes a great deal of strenth. I my self would be foot wedging it.

Phil does some amazing stuff with those wedges of his and also hits the ball a mile, yet he looks like the Michelin man. Tim Herron as well. That guy can play but I doubt he could run a mile in under 10 minutes if his life depended on it.

It's not how far, it's how many.

My Dad used to always say that.

My friend Chad is extremely good at golf. Tiger is the best golfer in the world. His profession is golf, but the man is an athlete.

Default Tiger's wife is MORE dynamic than MJ's!

Well, I can say I have naked pics of his wife! And OMG she has the finest round booty ever! That man should bow down and thank God and his father for making him what he is today.
