Long, long time....say what, like three or four months? What's a long time? Ghostzapper? Pleasantly Perfect?

This kind of superlative talk doesn't really help anybody. Good horse, sure, but come on, best in a long time? Unless long time is how good Like Now looked in that Gotham romp earlier this year, then your version of "long time" is a lot shorter than mine.

He is better than Ghostzapper and Pleasantly Perfect. You don't throw up back to back beyers like that in effortless races. If his breeding wasn't so good I would question him, but you can't breed a better horse. It is impossible.

Beyers again? They are for amateurs Ruler, strictly for novices. Sheets are universally accepted by owners trainers and agents. Beyers are mocked and laughed at.

This is the funniest post I've read in a while. Thanks for the comic relief.

When freakin' Bernardini runs a 124 against the best horses on the planet, give me a shout.

AP Indy's only get faster. This is a horse that can run in the 120's whenever he wants. And he is 3, GZ was licking his wounds when he was 3.

This guy knows a guy who knows a guy who owns horses and in a few months he has mastered every avenue of horse knowledge and knows it all, it used to be funny, now its just sad.

"I think it was more impressive than when he ran in the Preakness (gr. I)," Albertrani said Sunday. "It was basically a public workout. He came out of it great. He came back as if he didn't even run."

Like he didn't even run, and he threw up a 114. Unbelievable. GZ would need another 3 months off like he did between all his races. GZ was an unsound horse, this horse is anything but.

I mean, I was never a Ghostzapper fan, but I would say he's universally acknowledged in the horse racing world as one of the best dirt horses in the last 25 years. To put Bernardini not only on his level but ABOVE his level after two pretty good races....seriously, that would be comical if someone weren't really believeing that nonsense.

I give it to you, in a soundness competition, Bernardini wins....but, uh, is that what everyone is talking about?

He raced in 4 sprints the entire year, and lost one of them. 4 races in an entire 3 year old year. That is ridiculous. That is an unsound horse that is injured. Bernardini is looking at 8 races this year, most of them routes.

Fager, what we have here is a runaway freight train named the Bold Ruler. Actually a nice guy. Problem is that the guy got bitten by the horse racing bug a few months ago when Barbaro came to prominence because he has a friend who knows Barbaro's owners etc. Its great to see enthusiasm, awesome. But this guy has gone completely out of control. He truly believes that after a few months of following the game that he has the necessary and legitimate opinion of people who have been playing the game and in the game for years. His opinions are very black and white and his statemenst hysterical because he actually has no historicfal context on which to base them. Just try and appreciate his humor and enthusiam.

I wish I could dig up the old threads when Ghostzapper was finally retired last year. I believe even the most ardent Euro supporters (big_papa) named him as the greatest dirt horse since Spectacular Bid. Now, off two starts, Bernardini is better? You cannot be serious.

Like Doc Fager said....if we're talking soundness, sure, to this point in his career, Bernardini wins that competition, but really....the best in a long, long time? Are you ready to put Bernardini in whose category? Affirmed? Spectacular Bid? Cigar? Really, what do you mean by long, long time. That's an awfully bold use of superlative in describing what could be a two race wonder.

Most of what Oracles says is true, but Ghostzapper won 3 races his entire career over 1 mile. That is it. 3 races. One by a neck.

The neck was against St Liam, you have to be kidding me. YOu are such a half truth telling guy.

Heres a fitting joke for you.
Q- you are trapped in a room with a terrorist, a serial killer, and a lawyer. You have a gun with only two bullets, what do you do?

Great. It is still three wins in an entire career over 1 mile. How is that a great horse?

Bernardini was awesome, he has great action, and is definitely something special. One thing to keep in mind is that you have to take into consideration how the horse won the race, in this case it was loose on the lead on a track that played to speed, especially after the rain. He might be all that, but he's no lock vs older horses in the Breeders Cup. He's the best 3yo, but he still has to face older horses where he'll be looked in the eye the entire way and wont be able to just gallop our there. Flower Alley basically did the same thing last year, won by 5.5 w/ 112 beyer. GZ did have some soundness issues, but Frankel also gave him plenty of time to recover from those awesome efforts and his race in the Kings Bishop was just as impressive.

To hell with the GD breeding. Its what they do on the track.

You are comparing a 3 year old with horses that won multiple GI's against older horses. Thats just plain silly.

Let me list some numbers for you since I know you believe in Beyers:

106
116
120
128
114
124
123

128 IIRC....is the highest Beyer ever freaking recorded, dude!
