The only other 2-yo filly I've seen this year that I might pick to beat her is Mani Bhavan. I see she's not scheduled to run at Belmont this weekend.
Anyone know is she's going in the Spinster at Keenland, or training up to the BC?

Has she even worked since her last race?

weak division and her being a monster, makes her most likely winner of the entire breeders cup weekend....
i would love to try to beat her, but with who ? ? ?

I think Stardom Bound would floss her teeth with Mani Bhavan at anything over six furlongs.

Why would it make you nervous, the owner is dissolving his stable and Paasch is getting out of training.

I can think of a couple recent fillies that went from the BC Juv Fillies right to the sales ring

Definitely not in the Spinster. You're thinking of the Alcibiades.

It makes me nervous as to who's going to buy her. Darley gets in on anything with 4 legs and I don't want them to buy her - that would mean she automatically retires after next year, no matter how good she ends up being. I also don't want her being bought by Japanese interests - I want to see SB run in the States.

Ahh, right. Wrong age group.

And didn't Point Ashley go from the DelMar Debutante to that same sale a couple of years ago? or was she sold privately and then a phantom injury ended her illustrious career?

I think Zayat Stable bought her back or something.

I believe Point Ashley was the origin of the <insert horse here> "has done enough" phrase.

When have the Japanese bought a horse that was racing and then shipped it to Japan to solely race in Japan? I have never seen that, at least in the last 10 years

You realize that she would retire at the end of her 3 year old year with about 90% of the connections out there right because of her value as a broodmare, which is somewhat questionable given her breeding.

2007 : Rags to Riches
2006 : Wait A While
2005 : Smuggler
2004 : Ashado
2003 : Bird Town
2002 : Farda Amiga
2001 : Xtra Heat
2000 : Surfside
1999 : Silverbulletday
1998 : Banshee Breeze
1997 : Ajina
1996 : Yanks Music
1995 : Serena's Song
1994 : Heavenly Prize
1993 : Hollywood Wildcat
I stand corrected on that point......

I don't think Bird Town ran at 4. I think people were calling for ML Whitney's plastic-reinforced head on here, in fact, when it was announced.

You're right...

She is coming home to the farm," Whitney told the Albany Times Union. "I am not in this game to try and milk every penny out of these horses while they're running. She has done so much for us and I just love her so much."

I guess RACING a RACE horse for longer than a year is considered "milking".

And I guess you show your love by making sure she pregnant for 90% of the rest of her life.

True. It was just ironic that she was glanced over cuz I'm pretty sure there were a bunch of people in an uproar over her retirement.

Personally, I thought the early retirement of Birdstone was even worse. The excuse being he wouldn't be able to make the Donn Handicap or something after ankle surgery.

1995 : Serena's Song.......Thunder Gulch
1994 : Heavenly Prize..........Holy Bull
1993 : Hollywood Wildcat.......Prairie Bayou
The same could almost be said for the champion colts over this same period. Injuries took Prairie Bayou, Thunder Gulch, Charismatic, Point Given, Smarty Jones, and Afleet Alex. Of the rest, Holy Bull, Skip Away, Silver Charm, Real Quiet, Tiznow, Funny Cide, and Curlin all came back. The only ones that didn't come back because of owner's choice that didn't suffer injury were Bernardini and War Emblem.
