Default Big Brown headed to Monmouth

http://drf.com/news/article/97460.html

He's going to compete in the newly created Monmouth Stakes 1 1/8 miles on turf $500,000 if he runs.

Good for him. I was once a big fan of this horse, but now I've had it with the connections. The weasals should put their money where their mouth is and face off with Curlin.

For a camp that claimed they had a better horse than Curlin in every way they sure are going to unusual lengths to avoid him.

no better way to prove that your horse is the best then to run him in the storied Monmouth Stakes.

What's the deal with the purse jumping from 200K to half a million if Big Brown shows up. Talk about Tiger Woodslike appearance fees. How often have you seen a purse go up 1.5 times the original value for getting in the gate in this country. And why there? Wouldn't it make more sense to try and run at least one race on poly if you are even remotely interested in conquering the Classic?

Status quo for them, lie to anyone that will listen. Then claim to be the good guys.

Nice to see how these New Yorkers support New York racing.

it's for three and up. i think curlin ought to show up. after all, didn't asmussen say that curlin always made a better effort on his second go 'round on a course? of course that wouldn't really be following the letter of that law exactly, but it would be curlins second start on turf.
what the hell...jackson is so hot for the face off, do it here!

yes, Jackson should show up with Curlin. Hell, Big Brown looks to be done as it is. I imagine if Curlin does run there's a chance they could race each other into submission and Red Rocks or someone would be there to pick up the pieces.

You don't cater to the guy who's been talking the smack. You make him either come to you or look foolish. Besides, let's see what I'd rather win.. Woodward/Jockey Club Gold Cup.. Monmouth Stakes.. Really a toss-up.

oh, i'd rather win the woodward/jcgc as well. but i wonder how much money monmouth would put up if jackson expressed interest? i just wonder what the reaction from ieah would be if jackson announced curlin was going to show up. would love to be a fly on the wall...
