I insinuated it would not be out of the question.
It would not be as easy for Phelps to be as fast in his best events because he is a middle distance swimmer. Comparing the two is apples and oranges.

I am personally involved in the sport through my family. I have carted my girl to more 5 am practices than I want to count. Considering I can't go into any of my kids rooms and not see a Michael Phelps poster really and truly make your posts on this thread extremely laughable. Mr Phelps is quite highly thought of in my household and for you to think I said he was a drug user in this thread is very laughable. You don't know me Coach Pants or much about me. But that is quite ok.
Do you want to meet an Olympian? I can have that arranged. The catch is you have to share your opinion on Dara to his face. Deal?

You and your family know absolutely nothing about world class swimming. Your little trips to podunk USS meets and passing them off as some kind of advanced knowledge of the sport is laughable.

The men haven't dominated since 2004. The australians and the frenchman have passed us by. You would know that if you kept up with swimming outside of local uss meets.

My post count still doesn't hide the fact that you're an incredibly long-winded dullard.

I have no respect for some Idaho potato who attends a few USS meets and thinks he's the expert on all things swimming. You deserve nothing but ridicule.

But for a world class athlete to be better at 41 than they were at 20...25...30...35 is not normal by any means and brings forth legitimate questions. I do not think Bonds breaking Aarons record was an all natural event...perhaps it was...but I really don't think so. I question as does Forde that Torres doing this at 41 is all natural as well. If that makes me a vile human being so be it.)
Just admit you have no idea what you're talking about and we'll call it a day.

Again you deserve ridicule for insinuating one of the greatest female swimmers to ever hit water is cheating. If you knew anything about Dara Torres you would know that she's always been one of the best in the world. She could've had a realistic shot at winning the 50 last night with a 10lb weight on her back. She did, afterall, beat a field that choked for the most part.

Hey thanks.

I'm not going to say anything about it because I don't want to be drummed out of the Complete Brain/Q-L Club.

I couldn't live like that.

Well I don't want the conversation to devolve to the point where he mentions his daughter beat Russet Burbank at the Heinz invitational in Boise.

Why isn't one of the news correspondents here announcing the Sabathia trade?

We need confirmation on all those national news media reports made earlier today.

Overall they aren't...

I know I'm nothing swimming without nose plugs but the weight of them really keeps me from setting any records.

Speaking of which, how about those swim suit wars. I hear they are the real reason for all these records and even Chuck could set records in them:

I am sorry Coach Pants. I did not know you knew an Olympian who knows Dara Torres, and if that is the case it is wrong for me to suspect her of anything. It was wrong of me. But in the world of flawed human beings you often see people commenting on things they know nothing about as I did. I am one of the many flawed people who live. AT some level I bet you are flawed as well and have made errors.

You are correct I know nothing about swimming at the world class level. I did not know you were at that level and personally knew so many at that level. I think I follow the sport more closely than most who post here. I hope you would consider that a legitimate statment. Perhaps not. I don't appreciate you making fun of my family and daughter. (yes, I know you didn't directly, but by calling me idaho potato and podunk USS meets is in fact making fun of my family.) She works really hard and will never be world class but I am proud of her nonetheless at those podunk USS meets. You are correct in that those podunk meets do not make me an expert at all on swimming....I was simply trying to make the point that I follow swimming perhaps more closely than others on this board. WE actually get some swimming magazine with articles on all these world class swimmers and I read a large chunk of it always. I did in fact know Torres has been a world class swimmer and one of the best for years and years. That is why I find it odd she is faster at 41 than she was in her 20s and 30s. I think that is fairly unbelivable. I saw Jordan on the Wizards and Jordan on the Bulls. Nicklaus won 1 major after 41 and 17 before 41. It is not common for the best of the best to be at their best at her age. I understand now that I should not think that and it is way wrong. (yes I know your response will be that it is ridiculous to compare golf, basketball, track, ping pong, air hockey to swimming...I just need to further illustrate how dumb I really am by doing that.)

I think I never said that I was an expert on all things swimming...simply that perhaps I know more than you think I do. That does not mean I am an expert or mean that I was posing as an expert. I even stated I didn't know as much as you. I was dead serious when I said that. By attending podunk meets for years and years I think makes me more involved than many on this board and we actually watch swimming on TV when it rarely comes on is all. I never once pased off that I was an advanced expert on swimming...that was you who said I was doing it. I did not. It was simply nothing.

I simply felt that the Forde article was legitimate based on the world today. I think it is legitimate to question whether a 41 year old who is faster than she's ever been in her life is a completely natural event. You obviously have personal involvement with her and know her routine intimately based on your connections. Those that don't simply will wrongly question if she is legitimate as Forde did and I defended. I guess the record shows that you are obviously very close to world class swimmers who are close to Torres, and if I knew that I would have shown more restraint.

I am thoroughly embarrased to have posted on this thread. I am a know nothing something or other that you stated in your posts and you completely wiped me out here. I can readily admit that.

Thanks for putting me in my place properly. I honestly am not a vile and disgusting person however. I just make mistakes like most others of my species. I appreciate you educating me however...seriously. Ridiculous people as myself do deserve ridicule. That is what makes us ridiculous I guess.

(and I remain a dullard as this post verifies even further!!)...and why I limit my posts...if I had the number of posts you had everyone would have been bored off the board by now...and why I severely limit my posting on the smart threads as I know less about racing than other sports so thank me for limiting myself!!
