i think it's possible that war pass was short going in, since he didn't run a lick in his previous race.
hell,i don't know. i think this crop is not so good, and that he appeared for so long to be the best of the bunch. question is, can he still be the best of the bunch at longer distances? i'm leaning towards pyro at this point.
but would anyone really and truly be surprised if war pass could pull it off next month? i would not.

i would be shocked. nothing that I have seen from him flags him as a likely derby winner.

i just think the lack of depth in this crop could keep war pass in the hunt.

I think lack of depth is irrelevant in this instance. War Pass needs one thing to happen for him to have a shot to win.. Clear lead, :23, :47, 1:11 at the fastest. Maybe slightly quicker if the track is sloppy. That's not going to happen, so what's depth got to do with it?

i am mentioning things as they come to my head-isn't that how conversations go?
i mention depth, as war pass is not the only horse who has to attempt to get 10f-they all do obviously. and just as obviously, not many good horses in this crop. it's my contention that he is a good horse-altho limited to what distance he can be the best at. but the same could probably be said for most.

i also think it's a very real possibility that many watched the wood, thinks war pass will come back to them late due to the distance, and won't press him early. he could very well sneak off and win it.
or he could just finish last obviously! that's the fun of it all, and the mental exercise-who will do what?
