Their decision was to accept that or speak their minds going on two years ago. Very few actually "back" them any more than a regular citizen backs the govt official who represents your area. Hell you may not have even voted for them but he/she represents you regardless.

NYRA's business model would work if they were given control over their own product (ie OTB) and a decent revenue stream from an alternate source (slots)

I don't think thats a great comparison. I understand what you're saying, but everyone heard a lot of complaining that they were excluded from the vote, yet very few said anything.

Well that might be the case, but almost any model would work if they got those two things. It boogles my mind that they do not have control over their own product. Almost seems illegal that they don't.
