At first I was like...What's the point of this thread? Then I realized that other than being interesting, it was one more thing I could have my wife look at on here to help prove to her that there are people out there worse than me when it comes to gambling on horse races.

Wasn't it out in Yaphank?
Cardus, I was there many times as a kid too. My father owned two horses that raced the short time the track was open, one named Loves Little Joe and the other Lucky Mick. It is out close to Yaphank, off about exit 66 or 67 on the LIE and I believe that it still stands today rotting away.

Asia and South America are not quite on the short list, but I'll get there eventually. This year's venture is Ireland, '09 is a swing through Switzerland, Italy and southern France, and '10 is a run through Victoria (Melbourne), Australia.

Scav,

It's been great fun. Been at it for a little over 30 years. Much as I love racing here in the US, it can be a little boring (left turn, left turn, finish). Hopefully, you'll have the chance to catch some racing abroad and see some really unique layouts.
scanman, you've got to get out more.

Yeah, I'm pretty much a track junkie. I like the excitement of visiting a new/different track (adventure, setting, betting opportunities, cultural experience).

For the near future, I'm stuck in "hot as can be" Orlando. So for the next 5-6 months, we'll have 90 degree, with 90% humidity. I need to have something to look forward to. I try to get away once a month. I have about 22 "new" tracks on the schedule for this year. Heading out to Canterbury and Arapahoe next month.

You should check out Jackson. Only 30 miles from AA. I think they run through June.

I'm just not a big fan of harness racing. I never was, and realized it fully when playing Northville Harness once.
