Why is Drums of Thunder way over-hyped and NoBiz unbeatable, when Drums Of Thunder was within 1.5 lengths of him last month? Do you know how easy it is to have the result change by a merely 1.5 lengths?

i explained why in my last post, first off the layoff, only 4 career start, and there is no possible way tagg had him 100 percent fit, you as a experinced handicapper should know this... also how many times has drums of thunder ran already 50 ?

Drums of Thunder has been getting some mentions now and his odds may not be appealing. I would still think though that if you like his chances of upsetting this field that you could hook him up in multi-race wagers and get a pretty nice return.

I made my first Derby Future bet this year. I put bets on two horses Drums of Thunder at 41:1 and Zanjero at even larger odds.
At 41/1 I think that is a pretty good play. He has looked pretty solid, and his old man was a stakes winner at 10f (and a consistent 9f horse). I think he may be overbet on Saturday by people trying to beat Nobiz, but he certainly looks like he could be a Derby horse.

50? Wow you were so close! He has run 9 times, winning 4, and finishing second two other times.
Man, I wonder why his owners don't just shoot him.

And Drums of Thunder was coming off a 2 month break after running 8 races in a row. So............?

Kaplan's got fine stats in a 2-Off situation like this too.

So he's still got a right to improve in his second start of his 3yo season, just like Nobiz does, even if it's his 104th start in 8 months.

fyi, CRIS (now BookMaker.com) has Drums of Thunder at 60-1. It's odds on Zanjero are poor, though.

Really? I just made a couple of token bets for fun and something to talk about. Out of curiosity, what are the Zanjero odds?

I actually thought Adore The Gold's 33-1 in the Future Wager was good enough to bet. (I may well think differently tomorrow afternoon.) A couple days later I saw that he was 100-1 at CRIS! I felt fairly foolish. I should have stuck with just the "All others" bet, which was the one I was/am most confident in anyway.

Zanjero is now 35-1. Adore The Gold is also now 35-1, but was 83-1 a day or two ago when I posted about it here.

There are still some big prices if you like the horse: CP West is 85-1; Forty Grams 170-1; Storm In May 90-1; Twilight Meteor 125-1; BirdBirdIsTheWord 65-1; Imawildandcrazyguy 90-1; Ketchican 75-1.

I think my future on Zanjero is at 56 to 1. Which doesn't seem that great. Actually I don't like any of the ones you mentioned either including adore the Gold. Your all/others idea was probably the best bet.

He has yet to run a race that would put him within 10 lengths of any of these horses.
Well, there was that one time he didn't lose ground in the stretch.....

I think he's pretty interesting for the bottom rungs of the 8fecta.

Sorry... he's interesting to me LITERALLY as I saw him go through the OBS ring back in '05 and liked the way he looked. Love his sire too...

You boys should know me by now.

Nope, wish I did. If he looks good in the paddock tomorrow, I might take a chance for shits and grins, though.

Dude, J, that is your angle.

Send me a text to let me know if he looks good. If he does, then let me know if you're going to bet him.

If you aren't going to, I will post a message from work assuring the entire forum that he is a mortal lock on the win end.

If you are going to, I will remind everyone to leave him off their tickets as he is then gauranteed to run up the track.

I was on vacation, gambling wins/losses were not of paramount importance to me, or I wouldn't have been eight beers deep by the sixth race.

Brian did however display exceptional prowess today with a huge score at gulfstream. Did you catch that one?

He is too modest to mention it, but I will. Its on the big Gulfstream thread in the selections area, along with some other stuff.
