Youre on a kid who is lucky to have survived a spill because a horse broke down. I guess he should have taken pictures before the mount took the track. All you can ask of a jockey is they ride to their fullest, how can you even consider bashing a kid for a horse breaking down?
Who said anything about gate scratching, wake up and pay attention, oh , and learn to read. I'm on a kid who obviously doesn't have the horse sense to be out there, if one is going bad underneath him, it's his responsibility NOT to continually pummel the creature until he causes the very accident you speak of.

It's great to see the Holiday cheer is at an abundance on this board.

The only responsibility a jockey has after those gates pop is to ride their mount to the fullest, thats all the poor kid did. What would you have done if you were on that filly, just ease her outside everything else? She broke off the pony and jogged a warm up prior to the running of the race. They probably knew she was a little sore but thought she would warm up out of it. If the connections felt she was sound enough to run, whos a bug to say any different. It isnt the jocks fault when a mount breaks down, he doesnt train the horse in the morning, nor does he shuffle the book to enter. All they do is ride for their life, and thats all he did. Its wrong to jump on him for riding his mount to the fullest.

Hes young and everyone has to learn and start someplace. Thats why they call them apprentices.
They all can't be as skilled and highly intellectual as part time exercise riders you know!!!!

It's his job to excercise good judgement which in this case he obviously did not.

I didnt know Juiceguy was an gallopboy, maybe he has some valid points if he also rides. He may have been able to prevent that breakdown by taking ahold and easing that horse outside. Maybe someone with his experience would have been able to scratch at the gate without it costing him business. I wouldnt be in a hurry to gate scratch a Melnyk horse in Florida as a bug. Hes probably right, it was that pinheads fault, he shouldnt have ridden that mount to the fullest, and I am an idiot. I apologize for having an opinion different than his, I thought I could give my opinion in here without getting attacked.

I gave my opinion, and I was attacked, you were the one that said the kid deserved to die, not I. By the way, I am not a gallop boy. You keep obsessing over "gate scratching" a horse, why can't you accept the idea that it's obvious something went wrong DURING the race, not necessarily BEFORE it. This is where horse sense and judgement apply. Do you really think the connections, or anyone else except dumb gamblers like oracle would penalize the kid for excercising proper judgement and pulling up an injured horse? If you do, then you have no horse sense either. I'm sure the owners were happy watching the kid beat a injured horse senseless until it finally went down and was irreperably injured.

The original point of the thread was an update on the jocks that went down, because I believe someone asked the other day.

Here's a thought: Go watch the replay.

Juice, you know that filly showed some talent in her first start. She took all the money...they ran her back in the same spot next out, she finished up the track, took all the money at the 25 level. Then they chopped her in half, bottomed her out, and she broke down. To me I think they probably had an idea she had some issues. She showed enough talent in her first start to try her a few times before doing the chopsuey, unless she had some issues physically.

I never attacked you, I just think its pretty rotten to blame a bug for a chalk breaking down on the lead midstretch. He really doesnt have many options, riding for Mr Melynk in Florida. You ride the mount to the finish, period.

Im glad little bridge is alright

I'm just stating my opinion. I'm not offended by it being unpopular, but it is reality. Do you think Jerry Bailey would have beat a hurting horse senseless until it broke down? This kid learned a valuable lesson, and made a mistake I'm sure he won't ever make again. What's so great about riding for "Mr. Melnyk" ?

Whats great, he has a steady stream of horses

Bailey wouldnt have been on a 12,500 maiden claimer in the last race of the day. Bailey would have gate scratched, but Little Bridge is no Bailey, and little Bridge could lose a lot of business if he starts gate scratching mounts for major outfits. You dont agree?

Probably never. This guy seems to have experience with trolling message boards and more than likely knows how to get around a ban.
