He's a natural for TVG and join the other blabbermouths. I am sooooo.. glad he will not be calling gulfstream. While he is overly enthusiastic in his calls, his habit of telling what the horse and jockey have to do turned me off. BTW, I think Durkin stopped those long winter holidays in Italy. Seems he's only gone a few weeks now, like the inner track time.

terrible news, but yet another reason to despise magna.

Vic is the best in the game at calling a race.
someone mentioned Dooley.
hes one of the best also.
maybe we will see more of him on TVG now.

short list-
Vic
Denman
Dooley
luke k
wrona

fukk stronach and magna!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nothing new coming from me tho. we had vic here for 1 meet in chicago@hawthorne right before he went on to bigger and better things, it was truly a pleasure to have a man whos as good a racecaller and as big a fan of the sport as he is calling the races here. brian, you missed out@arlington. before they closed for a lil bit in the 90's and were still called arlington international wrona was calling the races, arlington lost alotta its flare when he left. dooleys adequate but he didnt deserve the job when arlington reopened, kevin goemmer who was calling races@hawthorne and sportsmans did but instead he got screwed over and got his heart broke and left arlington altogether to never call races again. that is until a couple of years ago he was calling at turfway for a week or so one winter and one night after the races he had a heart attack in his car and passed away. rip kevin!

Believe me when I tell you, Wrona WAS NOT screwed at Lone Star.....just trust me on that one - and this is coming from a guy who is friendly with Michael and not the biggest fan of Magna either....

He wanted Trevor type money in Dallas.....lets just put it like that. You would have laughed to know what he was making and what he wanted to call the races there....laughed...

Dooley is not going anywhere...mark my words....I talked to him over the weekend and he is looking forward to going down to New Orleans for FG this winter...he is a company guy and his contract ties Arlington and FG together for CDI....he's not going to Gulfstream..

They have already courted one guy who most of you know and then dropped him from consideration due to personal problems, and I have a pretty good feeling of who they are going after now. Something will break shortly.

This most likely has everything to do with the fact that Vic likes to go on TVG and works for the competitor also. NO OTHER REASON then that. That is fine, Vic is a good handicapper (fellow TG user) and I would pay attention to TVG if he was on there more often.....

That certainly is no surprise. Didn't expect him to go anywhere, but that doesn't mean that I can't dream.

Hilarious ...he's a super cool dude, but most fans either love his style or hate his style....Personally, I wish he would tone down the adjectives but I don't mind the rest of his stuff.

he is a great guy, one of the nicest you will find.
i'm just one that doesn't like his calling style that's all.

I give him credit though for working at his craft. he does his homework and tries to add new things each year. sometimes he drops things as well.

Collmus needs a tan He is an accurate caller and nice guy, although his calls don't particularly excite me. Thats OK, he doesnot grate on you though like some others, like Vic does for me. Durkin and Denman are at the head of the race callers list, though some may not personally like their style. The guy from Keeneland (Kurt becker ?)would also be OK with me, he is accurate and doesn't get in the way.

that's how I would describe Collmus, accurate, clear speaking, not real exciting but not grating either. I like him.

If Gulfstream hires Collmus the on-track handle is going to plummet. The snowbirds need a guy like Vic to wake them up so they can bet the next race.

I agree completely that its a mistake to get rid of Vic, but it appears that that ship has already sailed and the question is who fills his shows.

but yeah it should be someone with some razzle dazzle to keep the locals awake.
