![]() For the folks from the area - any new restaurants/bars worth checking out this year?
The old 'Saratoga Dining' threads pointed to some nice spots over the years. |

![]() While we said our 24th and final "they're off at Saratoga!" chorus with Tom Durkin yesterday, it got me to thinking about the next voice of the NYRA. At first, I thought that Vic Stauffer was a more than able "lock" for the role year 'round followed by Larry Collmus for the Saratoga summer meetings as needed.
In thinking back over Tom Durkin's complete 43 year career, the light bulb went off with another name from the New York area - Sam McKee. Durkin moved from the Meadowlands and it would seem that Sam McKee has both the respect and capability to be a multiple decades long voice for NYRA. So, three names now in play in my mind : Stauffer, Collmus, and McKee - all with excellent credentials to hold the post. |

![]() It seems unlikely that NYRA would use a caller from California.

![]() They have brought in Martin Panza and he has revolutionized the racing office. Perhaps the bias in this West Coast vs. East Coast thinking should go by the wayside.

Would've had the straight Superfecta if the Kimmel favorite (who was bet surprisingly hard) didn't finish 3rd. http://www1.drf.com/drfPDFChartRaces...=20140720&RN=1 |

Stauffer is a great steward and should not give it up. Collmus just signed with CD,but do think he wanted NY, didn't know. Mckee is a good race caller and he never came to mind for Tbreds, but think his heart is with the Sbreds.
