His offensive schemes got them to the playoffs last year. Schemes built around a healthy, running threat of a QB that he never got that back.

Everyone is looking to find the closest tree to hang the warmest body from, and the sad reality is that the logical alternatives are no better.

Snyder, in typical fashion, has exacerbated an already bad situation by injecting himself into the middle of a coach/player relationship and siding with the player, rather than to GTFO and let the coaches do their jobs to work through the issue. And sometimes, coaches just have enough of a meddling twerp, so they just smile and walk away.

Just ask Norv Turner, Joe Gibbs, Marty Schottenheimer, Steve Spurrier, and Jim Zorn. They all have the same story.
oh, absolutely dan snyder is the driving force behind how bad things are. but, sadly, we can't fire the owner.
norv turner-really, really good OC. really bad head coach. joe gibbs, hall of famer, but i think he'd been gone too long, and hadn't kept up with all the changes in football since he'd left-and then there's the curse of the owner. marty-snyder fired him only because he was bedazzled by spurrier, who is a joke and i can't stand. jim zorn was in so far over his head it was beyond ridiculous. his re-calling of the trick play was without a doubt my lowest ever moment as a fan.
now i only need him to hire nick saban. that would be the icing on the cake.

Thankfully not happening, but even if he were available I would bet you'd see Romeo Crennel than anybody that would have a choice.

I don't know who in their right mind would take the job, quite frankly. The team is getting old, and they have frittered away their quality draft picks for the foreseeable future on RG III, so even if Snyder has an epiphany and decides to get his nose out of the business, the team is going to be bad for many years to come. I'd say the Snyder-era coaches #8 through #10 will collect checks, go through the motions, and get the boot when their term runs out. Either RG III gets his groove back, or it gets much worse from here.

The problem is that bored billionaire Danny doesn't want to be an owner, but he can't be a player at his age so he sneaks around playing general manager forcing bad personnel deals like the guys on the list above but never admitting to the public or media he is the madman, always overpaying for whatever he wants and always seeing it go bad because he's not qualified to manage a team.

You would think he would have learned from the Bruce Smith, Stubby, Deion era's to name a few....but he just can't help himself so instead of signing has beens on the downside or coaches who don't fit he now burns high end draft picks that grow in value like this years likely #2 pick in the first round......this team will take years to fix but more likely is toast as long as Snyder does his best Jerry Jones impression.......a pity skin fans paid for that stadium and never got a solid team that lasted.

I'm a Bills fan. The Redskins are a model franchise in comparison.

Adam Schefter
Jay Gruden has agreed to become the next head coach of the Washington Redskins, per league source.

Hey, hardware don't lie:

At least they aren't a giant silver Hardee's drink cup like they were back in the day when the Baltimore Stars won it and Hardee's sponsored it. EDIT: The Stars were the USFL team...I just remember seeing the trophy displayed in a sports bar in the Inner Harbor back in the late 80's. It was comically impressive.

Still no GM, but an Arena League Icon. Way to fire, Danny boy.

Snyders never gonna learn.

no, he's not. i'm beginning to think he should change the name...not to placate those who protest, but because he's brought too much shame to it.

Always a good beginning when you start a new job without the ability to build your own staff. Snyder is comically bad at managing a sports franchise.

Rotating bald tires. Just like the coaching carousel in the NFL.

Daniel said in the intro presser that Gruden will be "Calling all of the plays"

I almost crashed my truck lolling

He has GOT to be the only man willing to take the check. No one in their right mind would work for that tool.

Ironically, I would have loved to have seen him in Tampa, rather than Buccaneers 2000 V 2.0 that we are going to be subjected to, and who's style went out with Pearl Jam.

Smartest decision they've made. Haslett is a top shelf DC.
