If you were handicapping Belmont with the notion that speed might be good in the slop I will tell you after watching race one that the fractions were very slow for that group. 49 for a half on a straightaway, yuch. They crawled home in 1:54 for a mile and eigth which is even slower than it sounds since thats a one turn mile and an eighth.
It appears to be a deep and heavy sloppy surface which is quite possibly the hardest surface in the world to handicap.
Good ****ing luck is all I have to say.

Bombs away in the 2nd. Landofopportunity scores at 42-1 for Hertler. His mother Pentelis was an incredibly game mare who also loved the mud. Thats about the only way you could have had this horse as his 3 races so far were certainly nothing to play him off of.
Glad I stayed out the early affairs, I'd be 0-2 had i played.
