As far as playing devil's advocate, guilty as charged. I just didnt it would create such ill will. Now...do you know a good horse that mineshaft beat that was in form when they raced or are you just "running your gums"?
He beat what was thrown at him. Normally I would challenge who a horse beat, but like bernadini you have to look at how easy teh wins are and the sheet number they ran. The number will tell you that it really wouldnt have mattered who they faced, they woulda won anyway. Its not like Mineshaft was winning races by a head or a neck, see the difference?

I do see the difference. But...sheet numbers are all fine and dandy and they look especially wonderful then the horse is running against overmatched short fields.

Mineshaft was given one gutcheck by a decent horse and regardless of excuses he failed. He no doubt was a fine animal and the season he had was one for the ages. I just question the comp because at the end of the day, it really does tell the true tale. See the difference?

See what im getting at? Its easy to run your gums and make statements, its a lot harder when people ask you to back up your statements with facts. then they say " I was just raising the issue" as a defense. Extremely weak behavior, even for a message board.
Wrong multiple times, oracle. It wasn't dalakhani who compiled that list. It was I. And why should I cite a bad ride of Johnny V? I never said he gave a bad ride. I only compiled the list because some genius said JV had ridden a "miniscule" number of rides in the 5 days that JV went without a winner. Turned out he rode 25 times. It was the same genius who said that JV would NEVER go 0-5.

So you owe dalakhani an apology. And I'm sure it's forthcoming, because you are always so willing to admit when you are wrong. Which reminds me, how's your research into California's Bute regs coming?

As for Mineshaft, he danced every dance until he was injured. I remember Beyer writing a column about how Mineshaft was a throwback to olden days, when horses went out and ran more than a few times a year. His connections didn't dodge anyone, and they ran him often.
