Mineshaft was given one gutcheck by a decent horse and regardless of excuses he failed. He no doubt was a fine animal and the season he had was one for the ages. I just question the comp because at the end of the day, it really does tell the true tale. See the difference? |

![]() As for Mineshaft, he danced every dance until he was injured. I remember Beyer writing a column about how Mineshaft was a throwback to olden days, when horses went out and ran more than a few times a year. His connections didn't dodge anyone, and they ran him often.
