That said, we're stuck at LAD. Given our schedule, the only alternative would be to run the race in October... but every Saturday in October is congested with big races at BEL, HOL/SA... so we'd have no shot to generate the handle dollars we generate on Super Derby Day during that month.

We could pull back into July, but the Swaps - as an example - would be the type of race we'd have, plus it's usually 105 degrees.

So some years we'll get a Blame, other years we won't... that's the spot we're in.

Just keep up the good game......

Enjoy, ONWARD, and prosper.

There's a huge alternative to altering the traditional calendar placement of the Super Derby (the name alone connotes that it should be more important than all those other Derbies you listed)...

...bring back the $1 million purse.

It was the only reason the race was popular to begin with.

Can you loan us $500,000? Easier said than done... but I agree.

but hey, if zenyatta gets a pass for racing nobodies all year, i guess lookin at lucky can do the same. baffert knows all he has to do is get to the bc in one piece and the 3 yo eclipse is his.

At least it has cooled off in September. Nothing says fall is coming like 100 degree days.

I feel that Afleet Express has a shot to the title if he wins his next race and if that next race is the JCGC

I see what you are saying(travers + JCGC > Preakness + Haskell), but I think you'd then be discounting anything LAL did even before the TC races. That and LAL would have to fall over to lose the Indiana Derby, which won't add much to his resume, but it does add something.

Preakness and Haskell has been the recipe for success in Eclipse voting of late.

Not really. Big Brown and Rachel Alexandra recently. However their total accomplishments during the year dwarfed their competitors.

That said, it's going to take Afleet Express winning the the JCGC and Classic to wrestle the award away from LAL. Even then it might not be enough.

Agreed, but Curlin, though he didn't win it did run in the Haskell too. LAL would make 4 in a row to hit those two races and be a champ.

Considering they are two of the more important races for 3 year olds it makes sense.

Here's what Einstein said about insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

So let's put that to use. You've been banned here repeatedly for acting like an idiot. Yet, everytime you come back you do the same things and get booted again.

So which one of us would be considered insane?

We're in summer round two. It's brutal. I felt like a jock in the sweatbox yesterday playing golf.
