I was going through my photo galleries and found this one of Invasor showing his appreciation for treats...

If you have some favorite old mare that you want to visit usually that isn't a problem either...when I worked at Trackside there was one woman who came pretty regularly to see Lite Light, she had no affiliation with the mare other than as a fan.

tipping is a must though.

You should also make time to se some of the distilleries (sp?) Woodford Reserve is absolutely beautiful esp. in the spring....I don't even drink but I love to go have luch there on the deck.
What is the standard for tipping if I may ask? I am going to Old Friends and other farms in May and want to make sure I have the appropriate funds to tip.

I've heard $5 for each groom of the horse(s) you see.

When I went I heard $5 too. When we went to Gainesway, we got to see Alex ( ) and Corinthian and the weather was very, very cold and had been sprinkling, so we gave $20 to the stud manager (who recently passed away) and asked him to get they guys breakfast for being so nice to bring them out in that nasty weather. If they go out of their way to be nice, I tried to tip alittle extra.

I plan on making the trip to see Alex as well, really looking forward to seeing my namesake...Ogygian at Old Friends. I very much appreciate the insight.

I think I have a few pics of him from our visit there! I will have to send them to you! My friend was telling my how unimpressive Alex was to her. And while he is small (looks like a QH to me), he is perfectly made. I kept telling the stud manager, that he always reminded me of Sugar Ray Lenard...always on his toes and ready to kick some a**!!! He got a big kick out of that.

I booked my trip to Kentucky finally, will be doing the first night at the Galt then two nights at the Storybook Inn then on to the Brown for three nights, plan is to tour the farms early in the week and see morning works at Keeneland then on to Churchill all day Friday/Saturday, morning works and racing all day - this is going to be my dream vacation - I can't wait!
