Wow, old thread.

Racing Post...

Pacemaker denies Siyouni at Longchamp
By TOM BOYLE 1:46PM 25 APR 2010 Report: France, Sunday

Longchamp: Prix de Fontainebleau (Group 3) 1m

TRAINER Alain de Royer-Dupre won the French 2,000 Guineas trial but, unfortunately for favourite backers, he did so with pacemaker Rajsaman and not with odds-on Siyouni, who ran on fast and late but could only finish second. Both will now contest the Poule d'Essai des Poulains.

The performance of the winner was not such a surprise for Racing Post readers, as Royer-Dupre had said in the race preview: "I have put Rajsaman in as a lead horse and he is pretty useful and capable of taking a place."

The trainer, who also won the opener at Longchamp, said of Rajsaman after the race: "Rajsaman had the race won at the entrance to the straight and he was always going to be difficult to catch.

"I am going to need a leader for the Poulains [on May 16] so both colts will again be in the line-up, but I doubt whether they will let him get away again.

"Siyouni had his nose in the wind so he was covered up coming into the straight but he did prove today that he could stay a mile. He finished best of all and I was very pleased with his performance."

Rajsaman, a 25-1 shot with British bookmakers, opened up a four-length lead over the Christophe Lemaire-ridden Makani and Lope De Vega. Siyouni, an 8-13 shot, sat in fourth spot under Gerald Mosse.

Shortly after turning for home Mosse, in the green and red silks of the Aga Khan, encountered some traffic difficulties as he attempted to work his charge into the race.

Meanwhile Rajsaman, under Thierry Jarnet, was showing no sign of stopping.

With less than 200 metres to race Mosse finally got going and Siyouni showed impressive speed to force his way into contention with his stablemate as the line approached, but Rajsaman managed to hold on by half a length. Lope De Vega was a short head away in third, with a gap of four lengths back to Makani.

Jarnet, said: "There was still some gas in the tank of Rajsaman at the finish. The way he won proves that he is a very good horse."

Mosse said of Siyouni: "I was very pleased with Siyouni and this race will have done him a lot of good."

Dang this is an old thread.

If he ever stopped, Presious Passion would be a prime champion rabbit candidate. As it is, he's the energizer bunny.

old to be sure......

surprised now that i think about it, that no one nominated aristides. the original rabbit, he was supposed to set the early pace and set things up for the stable champ, chesapeake. i guess someone forgot to tell the two horses about the cunning plan!!

Mugatea was a rabbit for Slew O'Gold. Nice NY bred.

How about the rabbit that never was...Knightly Dawn for Sham in the Belmont.
