That is because I almost swept the card on Saturday, Sunday I was hot until my Yanez horse got beat by a bad trip Douglas/Block horse for $2500....

I don't have time to call you every race and give you the winner

Yanez always has a period near the start of the meet where he gets HOT as can be, hotter then Catalano, and I have been trying to time it this year and I have gotten two 2nds out of it, one at 30/1 and another at 5/2, both tied to large scores, I made out ok on the 30/1 because I had the winner also, but got smoked when I got nosed on Sunday.....

My fav angle is a horse 2nd time on the turf with decent breeding if it did anything at all in its 1st time on the grass. Hit the board, showed some speed, closed at the end anything that shows a hint of talent. Also i will always bet a smart strike 1st time on the turf if the trainer is decent and the horse has shown some talent.

Ask Hooves, "Smart Strike on the grass" used to be my favorite angle. Now though, with the success of English Channel and Curlin, people are starting to catch on.

Two favorites:

1. Stretch out, blinkers off.

2. In maiden races, purchase price of horse as a multiple of the sire's stud fee. The higher the multiple (especially if over 5X), the more likely that the horse is an exceptional individual (at least per the market). That's not to say that buyers don't make mistakes, but this is often a pretty good guide.

Dropping down, cutting back, turf to dirt. Those three together.

Never huge prices, but lots in that 4-1 -- 6-1 range.

Also when a firster runs evenly and beats half the field. Bet those ones right back.

- Flashed speed in last (signals pending improvement)

- Hidden competitive Beyer

- Last out winner

I need to justify the last, but it never seems to fail, a horse who wins his/her last race is in form, and that along is worth consideration. But don't think I bet blindly $5k's going into entry-level allowances all the time!!

As opposed to the ones who rallied big-time for second... they are always overbet next time out, and seem to crash and burn often.
