![]() From Racing Post.....
Tango could contest American Oaks by Keith Hamer ALEXANDER TANGO, fourth to Finsceal Beo in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, could be in line for a trip to the US for the $750,000 American Oaks. The Grade 1 event at Hollywood Park on July 7 is one of three options for the Tommy Stack-trained filly. "There are three races under consideration for her - the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh and the American Oaks at Hollywood Park. "It will be one of the three. I will talk to the owner later in the week," said Stack's son andassistant, Fozzy. "She's in great shape." Alexander Tango also holds an entry in the Darley Irish Oaks on July 15. * * * From FoxSports AU... Anamato On Target For America (no author listed) Oaks winner Anamato is on target for her trip to America after her rousing exhibition gallop at Moonee Valley on Saturday. Anamato is booked to be flown to California next weekend where she will contest the G1 America Oaks at Hollywood park on July 7. Her appearance at Moonee Valley was a necessity as trainer David Hayes admitted he had given the filly an easy time since her last start win in the Austraslaian Oaks at Morphettville on April 21. "I wanted to give her a hard hit out because she hasn't run for a long time," Hayes said. "She worked well and now I know what I can do with her before she leaves next weekend." Hayes called on John Didham to ride Anamato in Saturday's gallop with stablemate Mercia. The pair worked off from the 1600m with Mercia leading out by two lengths until Didham asked Anamato to extend over the last 400m. She made up the leeway on her companion to win the gallop narrowly, running home her last 400m in a smart 23.59 seconds. Hayes is not concerned that Anamato will arrive in California three weeks before she is due to race. "I'd like her to settle in and be fully acclimatised by the time the race is on," he said. Anamato will be the first Australian-trained filly to run in the American Oaks, a race that has attracted several runners from New Zealand and Japan in recent years. The Redoute's Choice filly will be a worthy representative as she ranks among the best fillies of the season with her wins in the G1 Australasian Oaks and G2 Kewney Stakes and a third behind Miss Finland and Tuesday Joy in the G1 VRC Oaks at Flemignton last November. * * * ... and the runners from Japan..... Robe Decollete (to the Oaks), Koiuta, Kiss to Heaven, and Dia de la Novia possible for the Cash Call mile. Pink Cameo was (slightly) injured and is out... |

All depending on who is in the race, but she isn't top level down-under. They should have sent Miss Finland. That would have been an ass-whipping. |

JAPANESE QUARTET TO SHIP FOR TWO RICH FEMALE RACES Japan, a dominant force in the American Oaks and CashCall Mile at Hollywood Park, will again be well represented this year. Robe Decollete, winner of the Japanese Oaks, will be flown to California on June 25 for the $750,000 American Oaks on July 7. She will be accompanied by three aspirants in the $1-million CashCall Mile on July 6: Koiuta, Kiss To Heaven and Dia De La Novia. Japan sandwiched an American Oaks victory by Cesario in 2005 between runner-up finishes by Dance in the Mood in 2004 and Asahi Rising in 2006. Dance in the Mood returned to win the CashCall Mile last year. Yuichi Fukunaga, who rode Cesario, has taken the call in the Grade I American Oaks at 1 ¼ miles on turf for trainer Shikegi Matsumoto. Robe Decollete is an American-bred daughter of Cozzene. Dia De La Novia is owned by Carrot Farm and trained by Katsuhiko Sumii, the same connections as Cesario. Kiss To Heaven is owned by Kazuko Yoshida, a member of a prominent breeding family. Koiuta is owned by a famous Japanese singer, Maekawa Kikaku. Anamato, the first Australian representative in the American Oaks, is scheduled to arrive from Australia Sunday night with groom Susan Kerr. John Connell, assistant to trainer David Hayes, is scheduled to arrive later this week to supervise the Australasian Oaks winner. |

JAPANESE ANSWER THE CASH CALL Three highly regarded females from Japan are scheduled to arrive in California early Monday morning and clear quarantine Wednesday in an effort to succeed Dance in the Mood in the winner's circle for the $1-million CashCall Mile for fillies and mares on turf July 6. The formidable triumvirate of Japanese-breds is composed of Dia de la Novia, Kiss to Heaven and Koiuta. Dia de la Novia, a 5-year-old chestnut mare by Sunday Silence, has won four of 19 starts and earned $2,380,954. She won the Group III Kyoto Himba Stakes in January. Kiss to Heaven, a 4-year-old filly, has won three of 16 starts and earned $1,626,209. She won the Group I Oka Sho Japanese 1000 Guineas last year. Koiuta, a 4-year-old chestnut filly, has won five of 16 starts and earned $2,002,101. She won the Victoria Mile in her last start on May 13 as a 59-to-1 longshot, defeating Asahi Rising by one-half length. Racing secretary Martin Panza issued nine other invitations Sunday. Four went to Eclipse Award-winning filly Wait a While with Todd Pletcher in New York, Just A Game Handicap winner My Typhoon with Bill Mott in New York, multiple stakes winner Lady of Venice with Patrick Biancone in Kentucky, and multiple Canadian stakes winner Strike Softly with Mark Frostad at Woodbine. Trainer Bobby Frankel received invitations for a duo of Precious Kitten, winner of the Gallorette Handicap at Pimlico in her last start; and Price Tag, winner of the Grade I Matriarch here last autumn and runner-up in the Grade I Gamely Breeders' Cup Stakes in her last outing. Other local invitees are Dancing Edie, winner of the Grade I John Mabee Handicap and fourth-place finisher in the CashCall last year; Somethinaboutlaura, winner of the Redondo Beach Stakes in her last start, and Alexandra Rose, a South African import awaiting her U.S. debut in the Neil Drysdale stable. |

![]() HP stable notes.....
ARM CANDY EXTENDED CASHCALL INVITATION Arm Candy, third-place finisher in the Redondo Beach Stakes, was extended an invitation to the $1-million CashCall Mile for fillies and mares on turf next Friday night and is considered a probable starter for trainer Ben Cecil. A strong international lineup is expected to include a Japanese trio of Dia de la Novia (Yasunari Iwata), Kiss to Heaven (Victor Espinoza) and Koiuta (Hiroyuki Uchida), a Bobby Frankel-trained duo of Price Tag (Edgar Prado) and Precious Kitten (Rafael Bejarano), North American champion Wait a While (Garrett Gomez) from New York, Lady of Venice (Julien Leparoux) from Kentucky and locally-based Dancing Edie (Corey Nakatani), fourth-place finisher last year. Alexandra Rose, a South African import in the Neil Drysdale stable, is considered possible. Wait a While, Precious Kitten and Lady of Venice are scheduled to be flown here Tuesday. COMMUNIQUE JOINS LINEUP FOR AMERICAN OAKS Communique, a closing fourth in the Regret Stakes on the Churchill Downs turf June 16, has accepted an invitation from racing secretary Martin Panza to compete in the $750,000 American Oaks on July 7, trainer Rusty Arnold said Friday from Kentucky. "She's a mile-and-a-quarter horse, and you don't get many opportunities to run at a mile and a quarter for $750,000," explained Arnold of his decision to ship. "And Mr. Humphrey is a sportsman." The Kentucky-bred daughter of Smart Strike, owned by G. Watts Humphrey, Jr., is scheduled to be flown here Tuesday. The jockey assignment is pending. Runner-up in the Grade III Herecomesthebride Stakes at Gulfstream Park in March, Communique has won one of six starts. A field of nine or ten is shaping up for the Grade I test at 1¼ miles on turf. Probable are Anamato (Michael Rodd) from Australia, Robe Decollete (Yosunari Iwata) from Japan, Just Little (Victor Espinoza) from France, Supposition (Rafael Bejarano) from Ireland, the Todd Pletcher-trained duo of Audacious Chloe (David Flores) and Panty Raid (Edgar Prado) from New York, Baroness Thatcher (Corey Nakatani) and Communique from Kentucky, and locally-based Honeymoon Breeders' Cup Handicap winner Valbenny (Alex Solis). Mystic Soul, third-place finisher in the Honeymoon, is considered possible. Trainer Jeff Mullins is debating between that race and the $100,000-added Flawlessly Stakes at one mile on turf next Friday night. Supposition is scheduled to be flown here Sunday by Irish trainer Dermot Weld, who won the race with Dimitrova in 2003. The English-bred daughter of Dansili is a Juddmonte Farms homebred. She won one of four starts and finished third in the Group I Moyglare Stud Stakes last year, all at seven furlongs in Ireland. Australasian Oaks winner Anamato, who arrived here last week, is scheduled to work on Cushion Track Saturday. Japanese Oaks winner Robe Decollete, who cleared quarantine Wednesday, exercised on Cushion Track for a second day. Just Little, owned by Ed Gann of San Diego, won the Group III Prix Vanteaux at Longchamp in April for trainer Jean-Claude Rouget. The French-bred daughter of Grand Slam is scheduled to be flown here Tuesday. Audacious Chloe, Panty Raid and Baroness Thatcher are expected to join Communique on a flight from the East Tuesday. |

![]() Whatever you do, don't discount Supposition. On form she has quite a bit to find i'd suggest, but her trainer, Dermot Weld is probably the best in the business. He is renowned for sending horses abroad and bringing back the prize money with him.
If this horse was trained by anyone else, i wouldn't really be bothered, even Aidan O'brien, but because Weld trains her, it has really made me sit up and take note.

![]() AFTER taking in the sights -- and there were head-spinners galore at Venice Beach -- David Hayes reckons he's just about seen it all.
But, not too far down the road at Hollywood Park, close by to Inglewood where Pulp Fiction is played out daily, Hayes may have to think again. Tomorrow's American Oaks, where Hayes will saddle up Anamato, has it all and then some more. What are the odds of finding in the one nine-horse field a Melbourne Cup-winning trainer and jockey, neither of whom is Australian? But, this is Tinsel Town territory. It draws all types, not to mention peculiarities unknown to Australian racing. Where else would you find a $875,000 Group 1 race that starts on a chute through the middle of the track or that allows horses to run on medication that is outlawed here? Anamato is the odd horse out in many respects. For openers she is six months older than her rivals; she is the only horse to have run, let alone won over the American Oaks distance of (2000m). Two of her rivals -- Baroness Thatcher and Panty Raid -- have never raced on turf. Then there's the Dermot Weld-trained Supposition who hasn't started for 10 months and the French filly Just Little, a Group 3 winner over 1600m who'll race on the drug Lasix. Add to this intriguing mix Japanese Oaks (1700m) winner Robe Decollete, who'll be ridden by Yasunari Iwata of Delta Blues fame. Then we get to Valbenny, the $4 favourite. Unbeaten in her four starts, she comes off a Grade 2 win at Hollywood Park last month over 1700m. It's an eclectic mix, even by Hollywood standards. Hayes' enthusiasm is tempered by the fact that it took Anamato about 10 days to settle in, she's still about 4kg to 6kg below her Australian best weight and she's come out of winter while most of the others have been basking in the Californian sun. But, Hayes said Anamato's trackwork in the past week had picked up, an aspect which has also pleased jockey Michael Rodd. After swatting up, Hayes and Rodd believe it's important to be more positive in how Anamato is ridden. Both have noted the tempo is to break quickly then maintain the speed in what becomes a true test of stamina. While that should suit backmarkers, it's not the case, even with a run home that Hayes likened to Caulfield. Hayes said he hoped Anamato could settle about fifth or sixth, cart up and then peel to the outside. "It's a long way to come to get blocked for a run," he said. "The Japanese horse has genuine form through her win in the Oaks and her good run in the (Japanese) Guineas. It's the one, but all the locals are tipping Audacious Chloe." Hayes said given the potpourri of factors involved, Anamato was not entitled to be short odds. "If she had eaten better I would have rated her a 4-1 chance," Hayes said. "But it's by no means going to be an easy race." |
