yes, he is 3 for 3. i like him, but that stat is distorted as his three 1 mile races are:

1.) Evangeline Downs - two turns?? 2 y.o. season
2.) Oaklawn Park - two turns?? beat the mighty steppenwolfer
3.) Gulfstream - one turn mile A/OC ..... ran last quarter in 24.3/5, with a 22 and change 2nd quarter

isn't there always more to the story?? that stat doesn't look so good after closer scrutiny...

What odds, in your eyes, would be a good value for this horse tomorrow?

Right now, in my humble opinion, is anything above 9/2.

What say you?

Also, do you toss Lawyer Ron in your multi race plays or include?

sure there is more... the horse in now in the mighty pletcher barn and has learned how to rate... everyone knows the value of rating ( SWLY ).. is 10 wins in 13 tries on conventional dirt..stay tuned

Lawyer Ron is really rounding into nice horse as 3YO. Pletcher is succeeding in training LR to use, not abuse, his tactical speed. I have seen LR run twice at LaD -- winning 2006 Risen Star and placing in 2006 Super Derby. He is very athletic, well-built horse. His breeding suggests that mile is possibly his best distance. His sire, Langfuhr, won this race as 5YO.

Lawyer Ron is my choice to win Met Mile tomorrow.

that's true....but i was saying more to the story than the writer let on about where lawyer ron ran to get that mile winning streak.

i can see where he has improved since moving, will be interesting to see what happens from here if he wins, with the stonewall suit going on.

i know tracy farmer was talking about how horses are retired too quickly and he pointed to sun king as an example--but i can't help feeling that it's because sun king isn't by a fashionable sire, and hasn't won that elusive grade one....but i'm certainly glad he's still out there.

Corinthian - hasn't run a race around one turn since he was 2, hasn't had to deal with a pace faster than 47 & 3 (except in the race where he had an excuse and lost by 8 l.)

Silent Name has won a Grade 1 mile turf race. Plus he won on the front end on Polycrap in his last. Of course dirt is an unknown for him. At odds of 8-1 or above he's worth a shot. I think he is an interesting horse in this race.

Can you find a race in his pp's where he did not have to confront a fast pace yet and was not fast enough to get the lead? I can find the Derby and BC Classic. This is a flat mile and I can't see him working out an easy trip here.
He'll have to run fast early, middle, and late. I think Lawyer Ron will crack under pressure.

I have it down to Sun King, and maybe Silent Name or Silver Wagon closing past the hot pace.

Silent name is an instant toss for me, because he hasn't ran on dirt and his pedigree is grass. He hasn't been a real reliable to run back to back winning races. Silent name is not a contender in this race.

Look at Lawyer Ron and Account for the Gold.

A speed horse that is cutting back in distance is never to be overlooked, and you already mentioned the COntessa factor. It's tough to see him putting up the same number as last out, so I see a slight regression numbers wise. His last out, on the "easy" lead, wasn't as fast as it will be tomorrow. The fractions will be cut out more like his 3rd back when beaten as the heavy favorite. IMO

I understand your points about Silent Name and that is why I think we need at least 8-1 in order to bet him. But I've explained in past posts that the horse has class. He's won graded stakes on turf and polycrap. His sire was a pretty good horse and was a top sire in Japan. As a lonshot I think he should be included in the mix.

Accountforthegold is a nice horse on the inner dirt or a race where he can control the pace. If you think he's the uncontested controlling front runner you might hit the jackpot. I think he'll just add to the hot pace of this race. That hot pace will be Lawyer Ron's undoing. There will not be an easy slow pace to stalk or lead here the Lawyer Ron.

I believe this race sets up perfectly for Sun King. I think the pace will be demanding and I can see Sun King finally getting his Grade 1 win.

The way NY racing is nowadays I agree with you but this time it is different.
This is the Met Mile. Accountforthegold lacks the class and quality to win this prestigious race.

That has got to be a mistake.

Anyways I was looking at the Belmont card at Equibase and think I might actually get the PP's and cap it tonight and tomorrow morning and go place some bets at the track. I finally have a bit of time and I recognize some old names I might like to see again.
