I like to see that. It's rare in today's thoroughbred.

What a non-sensical thread.
As if everyone including the very best are not wrong all the time, and as if no one else took the same view the Beyer did.

another very lame cheapshot.

Agreed.

And, I wouldn't want to be in his position of having to publish a figure for this race either.

No matter what he comes back with it---there's a very good case that can be made that he has it wrong.

Beyer made his prediction and gave his reasons. So what if it was one of the 65% of the times he's wrong. Just about everyone picks winners at a 30-35% rate. Doesn't matter which ones they are right on and which ones they are wrong on. As long as u have an opinion and have reasons for it, that's all I care about. U'll win some and u'll lose some but at least have reasons. Maybe when u post your reasons, I'll be able to find an angle that I hadn't thought about.

People on here are so quick to jump on others when they are wrong. It makes u not even want to post your thoughts sometimes. I look at the thread where I picked Curlin as the winner. I've been on the Curlin wagon since the Rebel and said going into the Derby that he was the clear best 3yo in the country. Picked him as the winner today and what was the first thing people jumped on me about? My selection of Flying First Class in the THIRD SPOT. Amazing.

Tough crowd around here my friend....(well at least one or two people anyway)

One guy steadfastly thinks I made just $22 on this race.

Hey a lot of people liked Curlin, but not many had FCC above Street Sense and Hard Spun. Those are the types of picks that stand out in ones mind.

But great job, kudos that you were on the Curlin bandwagon, the morning line favorite for the derby.

I'm not looking for any credit for picking Curlin. I could care less who gives me credit for a winning pick or who gives me grief for a losing one. I don't put anything on here for any validation from any other person on here. But if u want to take your shot at lessening my joy for picking Curlin by noting that he was the morning line favorite for the Derby, u might want to try a different tactic because this one is weak.

Mr. Glorious;

I have given you grief even way back durring my short stay at Thoroughbred Mimes.

You do hold up well under constant attack.

I hope Jim doesn't take this as a back hand against him , because it's not, but I do see what you're saying here.

I admire your resiliency.

If you could care less about who gives you grief for a losing statement, why did you whine below about people jumping on others, and that it makes you not want to post here?

You open yourself to this, you make outrageous predictions and then start to whine if someone brings it up when they are exposed.

I tried to lessen your joy? Shall we use your Jazil rant as an example of how to spread the joy?

This is getting more and more embarrassing by the race. Each time this pig steps on the track, he's further disgracing the TC.
you always try to have it both ways.

When u get around to showing me where that post about Jazil criticizes anyone's selection of him, wake me.

Pigs everywhere ought to be offended by being compared to Jazil.

I'd love to own such a 'pig' as Jazil.

Thoroughbred Mimes? What do they do? Pretend they're in a box stall?

So I read LQ got it in 1:53.43 and Curlin in 1:53.46...assuming that Tanks Prospect also got the .43. We all know Secretariat is the king over all of them in the time even if Pimlico refuses to acknowledge it. At least DRF does. Surprising that they messed up on the 'fastest Preakness' label. Of course many media outlets forget Sham also broke 2 minutes in the Derby and say Monarchos was the 2nd horse to do it...he was only the second winner.

ETA: Heh, looks like I wasn't the only one grumbling about the accuracy of that claim of a record. They've tweaked the comment at DRF.com and Jay Privman's article on the subject now points to the fact that when they measured the race in tenths TP and LQ had the 2/5 assigned to them instead of .43,etc. and Curlin would join them in that regard. Whatever, still not the record. So close though that it's pretty darn impressive. I'm happy for Smart Strike. Got a Classic winner, nice job fella. Bran mash on the house and pass out the cigars, just don't smoke in the stud barn.

I don't think it was a tough figure to make. I split the variant after the 6th. These are the pace/speed numbers I have for the races, Beyer scale:

Code:
Race	Pace	Speed
1	99	93
2	99	92
3	101	96
4	89	95
6	116	94
8	120	112
9	103	89
10	104	107
12	124	112
13	88	69
