"" Come on with that 1 Willie""... , and keeps yelling ""come on with that one..""... into the stretch.. shes louder, louder.. till the race ended. So after the race I walked over to her and asked if she knew the horse and she said.... "" Ohhh I loved the colors of the silks"" !
Cool story!!!

Thanks again Chuck and Steve, Sunday was just awesome and hearing what you have to say even makes the race better. I had thought there was trouble with the lead change. Did I hear you say possible start at BELMONT!! Please, bring her to the big stage in NY!!!!

Thanks Steve, I know what a busy guy your are. You should get a hands free phone like Unstable.

I can almost remember a time when you wrote a beautiful horseracing story about once a week if not more frequent. Always a good read.

Curious why Chuck has decided against 3 weeks. Not questioning his decision. Just like to here the story. It's part of the thrill. It really is.

I didn't get a thing done yesterday at work. Everyone was asking me how it went. I got a call from my friends at the OTB telling me how exciting it was for them. Especially when she was going back after Girls Pearls. (he had Sumwon in the double). I think there is a huge positive vibe cheering on Sumwonlovesyou.

Steve, ditto what Wingnut said about your writing. And you really should think about getting that hands-free earpiece for your phone.

Wing, I was talking to Chuck on Monday about when he was thinking about running her back. 3 weeks is not ruled out entirely, but he wants to make sure of how she came out of the race. (And, in my own interest, if she runs back in 3 weeks, I won't be able to go.) The goal is to run her regularly, where she can do well every time, and not need to be turned out and freshened.

I'm sure Chuck will let us know how Sumwon is doing and what his thinking is. But I think he's a little busy right now... he's got a few horses running in the next couple of days.

I talked to a friend who was pissed with the ride Willie Martinez game Sumwon. I corrected him on that account, but the point is my friend didn't even bet on her, on account of how she ran in her last race (he bet and lost money on her that time). But he was still rooting for her and got excited, and this is a person who's been betting horses for decades. That's the magic of Sumwon.

Yes, you really need to know ASAP because you fly out. I feel like she is sitting on a win. Going back after the winner like she did. Did your friend think that Willie took her too wide? Steve said it was by design. Chuck's coment was something like... She was making everyone else run farther , Willie tried to shut off the rail but she was fooling around with her leads. I don't find fault in the race. I mean, "that's racing" now if he would have stood up before the wire and got caught ala Tyler Baze or Kent D... Willie Martinez is a good gate rider. I think he is a good match with Sumwonlovesyou. I don't know what do you think? When she goes to Cali we'll have to see if Jon Court is available. I don't think I will fly out west but you never know. Like you say, "the magic of sumwon"

Yeah, he thought Willie fanned her too wide. But he also thought Willie should have gunned her at the start and kept on going. I thought Willie's ride was fantastic. If not for the trouble changing leads entering the stretch, I think she wins. And Willie and Cherie already have a strategy for that. I hope Chilly Willie is going to ride her from now on.

If she ever makes it out to California (I know, in my fantasies), I can see Richard Migliore riding her down the hill 6 1/2 furlongs at Santa Anita. He doesn't get the greatest horses to ride, but he does exceptionally well down the hillside course.

Thanks for the great account, Steve. Let me see, I show up at her race at Keeneland, she runs last. I don't show up, she runs second. Hmmm, I can be bought to stay away...

You may have to move further away for her to win next time. (BTW, I know the feeling )

It was great to meet you SD - will look forward to catching up with you the 2nd week in Aug. at the Spa.
