Those curious about Gen. Duke can see the 4 straight races in which he and Bold Ruler banged heads above... The Bahamas, Everglades, Flamingo and Florida Derby.

And note that the Kentucky Derby winner Iron Liege was third in three of those races.

Some other members of that crop were the top dirt stayer Promised Land (put some stamina into a lot of Cal-based pedigrees) and the top Chicago-based colt Better Bee (he sired Bee Bee Bee, who messed up Riva Ridge's Triple Crown with a Preakness win in the mud).
