Out of those 4 I would have to go with Durkin's call of the '87 Classic.
Last year's Florida Derby shows Stauffer at his worst. He is just terrible. Everytime he calls a big race someone needs to remind him that we want to watch a horse race, and not his performance.
My all-time favorite though is Durkin in the '89 Classic.
"Sunday Silence is a threatening presence on the outside...."
"Coming to the final furlong Sunday Silence surges to the front..."
"Easy Goer with....one....final....acceleration...."
"and Sunday Silence holds on and he wins by a desperate neck..."
"Easy Goer was too late, and it was Sunday Silence.....in a racing EPIC."

Easy Goer's Gotham was SO tremendous but the call was pretty unremarkable. I like the drama of Durkin.

The stretch almost confuses me, how did Concern not catch him? Do you think Concern started to tire, or was Holy Bull really that game and had another hidden gear?

Concern wasnt tired, he just kept coming, the NYRA vid isnt that great. When I can ill upload the ABC feed.. you'll see Concern's move better and how the two pull away from the rest of the field by almost 15lths.

Holy Bull just wouldnt give in... and he had every right to.

One of my personal favorites was Holy Bull's romp in the 1994 Woodward.

I appreciate the individuals who have posted the numerous racing videos on YouTube. One day I will dustoff my video collection of major stakes starting in the 1980s and add my contributions to the YouTube library.

I like Vic and his different styles. May not be popular but he get's the calls and the fractions in with a little flair

Here's the ABC Dave Johnson version of the 94 Travers... video is better quality, but the call is a joke compaired to Durkins...

I was of the belief that it was a good thing that Trevor took over the Breeders. Too bad about the conflict with ESPN, Durkin was the undisputed king of calling the BC
