Alright, now that some of our charming, fine gentlemen on this board are through posturing and peeing on trees ... can the ladies get a word in?

What a thrilling race! She's moving forward each time, she's gutsy as hell, and she can dish it out and take it (I hate performance wimps, fillies should be tough).

When Willie tried to use that top of the stretch bump to help throw her on the correct lead, thought he almost had it, may (or may not) have made a difference, Le Chateau is a darn classy act by herself. Sumwon came back on her once, strongly, to try and put her away, and just lost to the better horse today. She rated kindly for Willie down the backstretch, he's great with her and suits her, and she works hard for him.

She proved her last performance wasn't a fluke.

She's a big filly, just filling out and yet starting to mature. She's only been in decent training for a couple months. The light is just coming on. She's learned it's FUN to play whupass on the track. She loves it.

The filly won $10K for Chuck and the partnership today.

I can't miss any more races by being at work, the screaming upsets the patients.

I wish it was a technical win today, mostly for Steve's sake due to the anniversary of this site, but I am not the least disappointed. Kudos to Steve, Chuck, Cherie, TC.

There will be lots more to come from this filly. And every one of us here on the board get to come along for this fun, wild, ride.

First of all, Chuck great training job. I have no problem with others opinions and yes I am biased since I am in on her, but I saw a lot of positives today. First, although she had trouble out of the gate, she rated very nicely today. She went 4 wide around the turn, was bumped, was passed by the 2 and came back and passed that one. Her struggle to change leads was obvious, but that will be corrected in time. She was game for the second straight race and came back at horses again. If she changed leads timely she probably would have won this race. This race proved that the last start was not a one time aberation, rather, it shows what a quality trainer can do to improve a young horse. She is not the horse she was just a few months ago.

She proved she deserves to be in this class and her value now has to be even more than twice what she was bought for. She has lost to two quality fillies in her last two, but fought gamely showing she is a race horse. She will find a spot in this class with softer, hopefully with 3 yo only. And she did pass the winner after the finish line.

I do not see a seconitis problem, I see a horse whose last 2 races were lost to quality fillies, fought gamely in both, has quickly and justifiably risen in class and who has hopefully learned to rate. This, to me, bodes well for the future. Thanks again, Chuck and Steve, you have proven that you have a sharp eye for talent. Can't wait for the Spa!

I was able to see SWLY race live today and it sure was a treat. I thought she was going to get it done. I was in section 316 which was right pass the finish line. My angle was good and I thought she was going to get it done. She looked good after the race as well. I think she can get it done next time out. The horse that beat her was a pretty good horse and SWLY took her all the way to the wire. Congrats to everyone involved.

I agree, Chuck has really done some wonders on this horse, essentially had to re-train her. She has turned into a patient animal that listens to commands. I also think she will be a poly monster given the opportunity. From what I have noticed about poly, is that natural speed with a turn of foot does real well on it ( I guess that is common for all good horses)

Friggin lead changes. No more peppermints until she changes leads

Now that there are 800 posts analyzing the race, it will be interesting to see if Steve or Chuck can possibly add anything at all regarding post-race comments

Good race!

I got home at 8pm after my step daughter's graduation and watched the taped replay, I was screaming at the TV as if it were live!!! Thought she was going to get it on the wire with her late surge. If only she could change her leads earlier, we'd be in the winner's circle. Great job again by Chuck and his staff! Judging my the pictures on the other post, looks like everybody had a great time. When she's at Saratoga...I'll be there!

Somewhere way back in the thread, someone asked what I thought the Beyer would be. I'm going to go with about 84 for the race.

I think your assment of the race is correct .I may be wrong but the seconditis term refers to a horse that dosnt give the effort to win and settles for secon. Sum1 dosent settle for second. She may get beat, but she battles all the way and ends up second. She is by no means a quiter that settles for minor placing.Im not a part of the partnership but I think they have one with some talent a lotta heart.

Jpops, well said.
Our gal is a battler, she stepped up a notch, was just off the pace, and almost had enough to outfinish a fast closing heavy favorite.
I'll settle for that.

What was her Beyer last race? I cap with Bris so the numbers are different.

Thanks,

Spyder

I think Sumwon is screaming for 1 1/8 as in the Mother Goose? But that might be a big step up for her in class. But you have to take a chance every once in a while.

Not yet, although an overnight stakes for 3yo fillies certainly wouldn't be an unreasonable spot at this point. Hopefully there is a perfect allowance for her first.

She is far from a quitter. A quitter doesnt hold on for 2nd yesterday. All I am saying with the seconditis thing is she gets a lot of 2nds. Her record shows that. Like I said it's not a bad thing.

Maybe it's the term seconditis...it refers to a character flaw to some sorta like 'hanger' and the like. The optimistic likes to just say she ran into two good fillies those days.
