He went 22 2/5 - 46 1/5 - and was beaten by a head in 1:05.10 while 8 lengths clear of the rest in an 11 horse field. Three races later ... going the same 5.5f distance - African King went 22 flat - 45 3/5 - and won a 38K alw race with Cohen in 1:04.60 African King is a pretty damn honest horse - now 9 career dirt starts with 7 wins and 2 seconds. ![]() I'm sure Sheets guys would say that the 6 or 7 weeks rest your horse had between starts is the reason for the big top he'll get .. and he's sure to bounce next time if he runs back on short rest. However, I think the most important thing to take out of it all is .... BET AGAINST AFRICAN KING NEXT TIME HE RUNS! |

![]() Owner Michael Gill said he intends to sell off all of his Thoroughbred holdings, saying he is "just worn down" by the recent controversy involving the breakdowns of his horses at Penn National Race Course.

![]() This one was supposed to be one of the worst of his worst .... seems like it was $1 well spent by his new connections because the horse just won a race at Sam Houston on Saturday and looks like a nice open nickle claimer.

![]() Not that I heard the entire interview, but I just read the clip on Equidaily about Tony Black endorsing the unprofessional, infantile behavior of the Penn National jockey's....and it makes me wonder.....how come he didn't support a boycott of the ninth race today at Philadelphia Park in which there was a Michael Gill owned Anthony Adamo trained runner?
In case you were wondering, RIKMAN, the Gill/Adamo runner was an easy winner. Last edited by Fearless Leader : 02-01-2010 at 05:18 PM. |
