The company’s priorities seem misplaced – typical of the racing industry, which often doesn’t seem to understand its customers.

But the company has not focused on giving racing’s core customers the accurate information that they want.

This is what I was kind of asking about on my technology in racing thread.

Why is it this way?

Where are the people with vision?

Wouldn't you think someone would fix the things that could easily be fixed and concentrate on the future? CG 3D post race analysis etc.

All I know is someone needs to do something.

Things like timers that don't work properly 24/7... ridiculous.

Trackus should have been everywhere by now. Instead it's almost like a novelty.

Trakus is a great thing.

I like Beyer's idea about inviting user feedback and looking for errors that might otherwise go undetected.

Right now, they need a quality control person who has an understanding of pace figures and speed figures to review the data everyday. The 'mistakes' like Beyer mentions in the mile and 40-yard races at Tampa is a issue at other distances as well. It's all stuff that can be cleaned up and corrected. I have theories on it from all the monitoring that I will pass on to Pat when Tampa and GP's meets are done.

Inviting user feedback + a suitable quality control guy to deal with the feedback and review all the data should equal a winning formula because I think these 'mistakes' can be prevented ahead of time.

Oh be quiet.

I know very little but one thing i do know is that not enough is being done. Nothing is being updated.

I love this sport but I hate that it's like a dinosaur at times and no one wants to get the ice age going.

Why would he write if he thought nobody could listen? The guy cares and wishes to enlighten people and make the sport better? Obviously he hopes people listen, otherwise he could just post his thoughts on message boards. just pray his bike doesnt get a flat tire, we would hate to have to put a new rim in a angel thread.

I don't mean him...

This company...

http://www.trakus.com/

... lets ask them and other innovators, visionaries, what they could come up with.

PIck 5 businesses who have shown qualities... NEW ideas, whatever, throw some money at them and say help us. Help us make things new so we can reach more people who will in turn become bettors...

It's exasperating, isn't it?

I can't get anyone to fall in love with this game because of the way it's perceived.

The thing is I can understand why they think the things they do.

Even the information that's available... you wanna know one of the reasons I love following HK? They will give you anything you want. It's all right there. Every record of everything, everything they have.

We don't even have that much. We don't even have timers that work properly. What the ****?

WE should be leading the world.

Otherwise you know it will eventually be a big fat RIP to the whole thing.

It comes down to that and you can write the obit.

Like I said I don't know a lot and never claim to. Maybe that's part of the reason I can see just how much is wrong with things...newer eyes and all that crap.

Appreciate feedback and welcome it from anyone on here. There is much underway with Trakus, and still a long way to go. Just wanted to add that the Tampa issue referenced in the article was addressed soon after it was identified in January and adjusted.

I'm certainly new on board with the company, but the passion is strong, the will to consistently improve is there, and the more input we get, the better...and I can definitely confirm LONG LONG LONG hours. Anyway who wants to drop me a direct message, I'll be happy to discuss more.

>>> So I offer a modest proposal. The company should formulate a report that allows users to log into, say, the Gulfstream website and see the key Trakus measurements in the previous starts of every horse on the Gulfstream card. It should invite users’ feedback – letting thousands of eyeballs look for errors that might otherwise go undetected. The company needs to be less focused on developing whiz-bang graphics and more concerned about giving the best, most accurate data to handicappers.<<<

You mean, sorta like he gives away these?

I would think that there should be a way to purchase a subscription if one would choose, but considering the type of capital investment they've made in the product, it's seems a little silly to believe this data should simply be given away on the Gulfstream website.

i can't help but think that tracks just really aren't interested in helping bettors have more info.

I don't get why NYRA does not have Trakus yet. Now that they have the slot money this seems like a no brainer upgrade to get better information to the bettor. Considering that NYRA has done a wonderful job in being progressive in gettting more information to the bettor this seems like a real simple improvement. In fact, this technology should be on every major circuit at this point. TFM might even wager on some NYRA races if they got it.

I'm starting to think that a lot of the people who could help to advance the game... it's like they're in a firing line but it's in the shape of a circle.

I was reading this

http://espn.go.com/horse-racing/stor...gs-action-fans

and very surprised by the bit at the ending...

The company's online Virtual 3-D race simulator also adds another interactive angle -- over at the official Kentucky Derby site, fans can "ride" last year's winner with the jockey's-eye view of the race.

Check this out.

http://www.turfclub.com.sg/Racing/Pa...eResult/1637/9

My example is Gingerbreads Man this past weekend but this is available for every single race.

When you get to the race click on T Chart (first of three options... there's also sectional time and race video) and you can see the race three ways...

jockey view, ariel view and side view.

Singapore has this. Why don't we? Shouldn't we?
