Default I claimed my first horse!

I am officially a thoroughbred race horse owner! I claimed (along with my partner, and a very good friend, and my trainer) a 3 year old filly yesterday at Golden Gate Fields. She was recommended by my trainers Dad who saw her down in SoCal and really liked her. We were worried before we claimed her, she was wearing front wraps for the first time and was acting up in the gate before the race, then she finished dead last after leading for most of the race... but her legs are fine, she scoped clean and my trainer determined that she hates having her ears grabbed (they did that to her to get her in the gate). She's eating well and has settled down in her new home and we have great hopes for her. She a big solid filly sired by Old Topper and she prefers routes to sprints. I'm pretty excited about this - hopefully she is the first of many that I own

Way to go DT. Congrates and best of luck to you! Hope for great things. I don't like my ears grabed either, so hopefully it's all up hill.

beautiful horse. Old Toppers like that synthetic stuff. Horses get legged up at Golden Gate and do well at Santa Anita

so maybe you can ship with confidence for a win

She looks lovely. Congratulations! Gotta love an Old Topper. I might have to add her to my stable mail.

Just looked at O Firely's PPs from Friday's third at GG

Lots to like, especially having a top notch trainer like Steve Sherman.

Got to add this one to my horses to watch list.

Default Congrats Dee Tee

Should be congrats Derby Trail...
What is the horses name and who is your trainer?
Welcome to the world of TB ownership.
Lots of bills but at least with a claimer you are in the game immediately.

Congratulations -- all the best.

I'll tell you a bit of what D. Wayne Lukas told me (when I won my first race). Live it, enjoy it, every single moment. Take it in. And remember it so very well. You will want to bottle it up and open up the bottle and take some out during some of the "down" times, and there will be down times. But the down times are worth it because the great times are oh so great.

Have a great time because it's the greatest game going.

Eric

Congrats!!!

I'll echo Eric's sentiments. You'll never forget your first winner!!!

Owning is truly a rollercoaster ride. There will be days you'll feel like it is oh so easy. And there will be others when you'll second guess everything you do.

Enjoy yourself and be realistic in your expectations and you'll have a fun, fun time!!!
