Default Secretariat Belmont youtube's/stuff I haven't seen

Maybe some of you have already seen, but there are a couple of newer YouTube links up with the 1973 Belmont.

The 2nd video shows more of the post race commentary than I have ever seen before, complete with Ron Turcotte in full and proud glory. The video is 100% actual television coverage.

The first video is different fare. I'm normally not a bagpipe guy, but I will say this video uses them well. Kudos to the creator and assembler. The whole race is there, with a few nicely done scenes sewn in. Arguably campy, but anyone who saw the 1973 race real time should definitely watch.

Do me a favor and hang until near the end when Secretariat is shown in close up in the stretch strides. Tell me that doesn't bring goose bumps....

(If this belongs in a more apropos folder, of course put it there........:-).....)

Great stuff.. Had goosebumps the whole time. Had to get my 5 yr. old little boy to come watch it with me. Course he has no clue, but will hopefully one day remember sitting on his Moms lap being told about the great horse Secretariat. What a truely amazing animal he was. Doubt we will ever be subjected to such greatness again.

It doesn't matter how many times I watch it, the race still defies all logic.
Horses simply aren't supposed to be able to run 6f in 1:09&4 under pressure from a very good horse, and then follow that up with another very impressive 6f. It certainly remains the most amazing performance in the history of the sport.

Speaking of Belmonts (and do excuse me for jumping in here, but I didn't think this was thread worthy in and of itself), but did anybody see a son of Affirmed by the name of Adjust won a race last week at Gulfstream? That by itself isn't particularly noteworthy, except for the fact the old boy is a 12YO gelding who was a KEE1997 yearling purchase and was making his 73rd career start!

Sorry for the jump in on the Secretariat thread, but I figured this was as appropriate a place to mention a son of Affirmed as any other.
